Something wrong with my thread

My baby, my offspring, the love of my life…

My Enterprise vs. Star Destroyer thread.

It’s gotten several replies to it over the past week or so (I know since I get the E-mail notice), but every time it’s gotten a reply, it didn’t get bumped. It could be just my computer, but I even checked after I responded to it once, and it wasn’t on any of the IMHO pages.

O great and wise and beautiful Tubadiva, has my beloved thread been cursed with anonymity, or is it just so big/old that it doesn’t get bumped? 'Cuz I like that thread… I’m proud of it…

Also, SPOOFE, did you notice that Vahktang’s post count seems to be stuck at 1, even though he made 5 posts to your thread? I believe it’s the only thread to which he has posted, judging from his profile, which lists that thread as his most recent.

This is a thread dating back to the UBB days, so there might be something wacky with it involving the coding.

Lemme go see . . . I’ll ask the techs, too.

I see the problem. The thread’s too long.

All good things have to come to an end, and that includes this thread. If the situation really needs further discussion, it’s going to have to be in Part Two.

Perhaps if you switch the thread to another forum, then switch it back, it will clear the bug.

Sometimes bugs are caused by “end-point conditions”, usually powers of 512 that don’t behave correctly because the coder forgot it might “roll-over” in binary math to equal zero.

Giving the thread a new number could cure that. And only take seconds to try.

Just a thought.

Old thread-closed.
Enterprise vs. Star Destroyer-The Rematch!-open!

One of the techs looked at the old thread and corrected the situation. You should now be able to look at the entire thread.

Thanks for your suggestions, t-shirts. Apparently there was some bug in the system, I dunno if that was it or or not, but the techs seem to have the situation well in hand.

Thank you, slythe. I was just about to suggest that myself.

tshirts– Moving a thread does not give it a new number in vB. This is the main reason why moved threads no longer leave behind a locked relic in the original forum, like they did in UBB. The upside is that links to a thread remain valid when it’s moved.
