First, your link doesn’t work.
Second, when you ignore someone, you still see that they posted something, you just can’t read it. So he can see the thread and that you started it, then there are the various comments about it here he can read. I am guessing he just assumed it was the PM he sent you, since you didn’t name anyone.

mine was "You are a sick FREAK. ". i dont seem to cross threads with the guy anywhere, and he has never replied as to WHY i’m a sick freak.

If a police officer says to you, “please step out of the car,” do you assume you have a choice?
If your boss says to you, “please have this report ready by tomorrow,” do you assume that you can take your sweet time and turn it in next week?
The presence of “please,” when delivered by someone with authority, does not necessarily mean that it’s not an order.
Is that concept easy enough for you to grasp, or should i explain it using shorter sentences?

Well the PM person saw this thread and sent me two PM’s today telling me that he saw this thread and thought that he’d explain himself.
Firstly, his initial message was just “Fuck You”, and in his following messages he explained that it was due to this post http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/...7&postcount=32 (Quite tame really) and then says…
"Its petty, but I tend to put people on ignore easily. So if you sent me PMs wanting clarification I didn’t receive them. I saw your post on the ATMB forum having confusion about this, and am giving you clarification about why I sent that PM, what it was about & why I didn’t respond to PMs you may have sent back (I didn’t get them).
Anyway, I’m not trying to talk you out of reporting me (I can be pretty rude and petty at times), but that is why I did it if you were wondering."
(I’m assuming that since i didn’t name him, i’m not really breaching anyone’s privacy, and im not actually reporting him for anything)
He seems like quite a nice guy, if a little irrational, and it’s a shame that one little comment from me would warrant such a response as well as sticking me on the ignore list.
I’m just some guy on a message board, do i really warrant such an emotional response?
By the way, since he said i am on his ignore list (and he didnt get my PM), how could he see this thread?
In case anyone is wondering, it wasn’t me that PMed him. I would have been way more creative.

You can still see the thread if you have someone on ignore. And you can choose to read the thread. I know I would if I’d PMed something like that and was worried I might get in trouble.
BTW, what the PM said is precisely what I thought it might have said. Something must be wrong with the universe, because I’m never this right.
