Son of the SDMB Musicals Group

I’ll take Cabaret.

I’ll take The Music Man. I was thinking of taking Guys and Dolls, but then I remembered I’m going to be busy the end of March, and if that project runs long I might not be able to do a proper job of it.

Thanks, gentlemen!
2/15: Cabin in the Sky (1943)
3/1: The Pirate (1948) – NAF1138
3/15: It’s Always Fair Weather (1955) – twickster
4/1: Guys and Dolls (1955)
4/15: The Music Man (1962) – LurkMeister
5/1: Cabaret (1972) – Sampiro
5/15: All That Jazz (1979)
6/1: Shall We Dance? (1995 Japanese original) – Eureka
6/15: Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) – NAF1138
Two personal favorites of mine – Guys and Dolls and All That Jazz – are still up for grabs, as is Cabin in the Sky.

I’ll take Guys & Dolls.

It’s yours!
2/15: Cabin in the Sky (1943)
3/1: The Pirate (1948) – NAF1138
3/15: It’s Always Fair Weather (1955) – twickster
4/1: Guys and Dolls (1955) – amarinth
4/15: The Music Man (1962) – LurkMeister
5/1: Cabaret (1972) – Sampiro
5/15: All That Jazz (1979)
6/1: Shall We Dance? (1995 Japanese original) – Eureka
6/15: Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) – NAF1138

Dang, I wanted Cabaret. Oh well, I’ll settle for All That Jazz.

ETA: Dang Dang, I didn’t see Cabin in the Sky. I’d much rather do that, unless I can do both.

“Both” works for me! (I’d’ve been happy to pick up All That Jazz, which is one of my favorite movies evah!, but think you’ll do a much better job of writing the OP than I would.)

2/15: Cabin in the Sky (1943) – lissener
3/1: The Pirate (1948) – NAF1138
3/15: It’s Always Fair Weather (1955) – twickster
4/1: Guys and Dolls (1955) – amarinth
4/15: The Music Man (1962) – LurkMeister
5/1: Cabaret (1972) – Sampiro
5/15: All That Jazz (1979) – lissener
6/1: Shall We Dance? (1995 Japanese original) – Eureka
6/15: Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) – NAF1138

And with that, ladies and gentlemen, we have a full slate of movies and OPs.

Music, maestro, please!

If you don’t already own Guys and Dolls, a Deluxe Version is available at both Daedalus Books (for $6.98) and Edward R. Hamilton (for $7.95).

Damn, I just have the normal edition. Grumble grumble grumble.

Ditto on the grumbling. I hate it when I buy a DVD and then later they come out with a “Special Edition” which has a bunch of interesting extras on it.

A reminder that lissener will be writing an OP on Cabin in the Sky on or about 2/15.

For anyone in or near Seattle, SAM is showing “Cabin in the Sky” on 2/13, and 1776 on 3/13.

Oh cool, I’d love to see Cabin in the Sky on the big screen, and my vidstore doesn’t have a copy of *1776 *on DVD.

The Cabin in the Sky discussion can be found here.

Reminder that the next film up is The Pirate, with Gene Kelly and Judy Garland (which I just watched a couple of months ago, I’m trying to decide if I need to see it again … it’s not one of my favorites). (It does have the Nicholas Brothers, though, which is never a bad thing.)

NAF1138 will be writing an OP on or about March 1st for this.

It’s going to be about March 1st, but a reminder to watch!

Not my best OP ever, but The Pirate is up and ready to go.

Reminder that the next movie up is It’s Always Fair Weather – I’ll be writing an OP next weekend sometime.

It’s Always Fair Weather is being discussed here.

Next up is Guys and Dolls (Marlon Brando at his peak of lusciousness blissful sigh) with amarinth writing an OP on or about April 1st.

BTW, watched Hairspray last night – more fun than I expected, frankly. Such bright colors! So much dancing!

I, unfortunately, do not have access to my copy of Guys and Dolls and the copy from Netflix hasn’t arrived yet.
The post will probably be on (or about) Friday.
