can somebody please help me identify the following two songs?
I heard this song for the first time about 7 years ago…i taped it the first time but not completely, then i heard it on the radio probably a year later…and i think the radio
guy said that the singer’s name was alan kaplan or something like that…I’m not sure though. I’ve been searching the net for AGES and haven’t been able to find anything. a guy sings the song, i think its a late 80s song, and kinda has a tears for fears/gazebo/gowan’s “cosmetics” feel to it…
(the links are to mp3s of the some of the tune, as best as i can play it…i.e. not so great)
please right click on the links and go “save as”…then unzip the files. rain-part1 rain-part2
The lyrics (that i could understand) are as follows:
its just the rain falling down on me
its just the rain falling down on me
goodbye sweetheart
i must go
goodbye ?dear one
i ???
we ???
and made it rain
its just the rain falling down on me
goodbye my friend
its been nice
worth all those years of happiness
we fought so long for ???
its just the rain falling down on me
its just the rain falling down on me
my love is shattered by the rain on me
its just the rain falling down on me
its just the rain falling down on me
the rain is coming down onme
see the past when i look behind
??
leaves me cold
leaves me with the pain
2) i can’t remember any of the lyrics for this song…all i can remember is that there’s whistling in it, and a guy sings it. i think his voice is kind of like richard marx…not sure though. anyway, another link to the song (as i remember it) is below:
Sorry, Silent GeoCities doesn’t let you d that anymore. There’s no way to download the files unless it’s downloaded directly from a link on your site.
This is to prevent people from storing pics on their site for items they sell at auction sites or from using the GeoCities servers for storing material for remote loading.
This is true, but I’ve found that somefiles can be a huge pain in the butt even when you cut and paste the link. After much effort, I managed to get to of the three.
The other thing I can do is look up the copyright licencing info for “Kaplan” and see if it turns up anything likely.
Thank you Eats_Crayons – I recognized that one by tune immediately, but the title or group didn’t come to mind, so trying to figure that one out was about to start bugging me, too!
Silent Rose - Sorry, I only recognized the second one. But, your rain part 2 link doesn’t work because it links to the filename rain-nextpart.zip.zip (you have one too many ".zip"s on it). I successfully downloaded it when I removed the extra extension.
SilentRose what country are you in/were you in when you heard the first one on the radio. Since national music charts can be so different, so are playlists. That might help track it down.
You said the song sounded kind of like Gowman’s “Cosmetics”… You mean in style and prodcution values or do you mean general tempo and vocal sound?
Eats_Crayons:
i am in/was in Canada… but when i heard it i got the feeling that it wasn’t a “current” song. i think i heard it in 1994/95 but am not completely sure…
also, i mean the song is simlar to “cosmetics” in every way you mentioned…its like this…if someone said the song was by gowan i could believe it…the only slight difference being the vocals.
if this helps, the song is kind of similar in style to tears for fears “laid so low”…but i know 100% that’s its not a tears for fears song.
White Lightning: forgive my newbie ignorance :D…i read up on the link. thanks
anyway, i have waited patiently for this thing to go beyond the first page…it was on the fourth page…
all i can add is that the Rain song is not by peter gabriel, gowan, gazebo and that after searching the net again i was unable to find anything at all with lyrics even slightly similar to it…
You search is OVER!
I been looking forever for this song I heard while listening “accidentally” to Chatham Kent Perfect Music Mix CKSY FM 95.0 in hometown Detroit Music years ago. They play great music up there in Canada.
