Song Lyrics "Hey, hey, my, my ..." WHO SANG THIS SONG (what's its name)?

Who sings that song and what’s it called??? It’s been bugging me for years! Ever since I heard it on the radio and never managed to catch the name when the announcer announced.

The lyrics I know are (chorus):

Hey, hey
my, my
Rock’n’roll
will never die
just hang your hair down in your eyes,
you’ll make a million dollars.

Uhhh …

Apart from the last two lines, it’s Neil Young’s, “Hey, hey, my, my”.

Anyone else here good on the search engines this time o’ the am?

Please remember this song is only a few years old! 5-8 maximum!

These are some of the lines from it that I can remember (not in any order):

“Then along comes a band that wasn’t even together, now that’s alternative, that’s the alternative to alternative.”

“I’m not sure if we can sell an album that ahs nothing on it… Tell 'em we’re from Seattle, so they forwarded us one and a half million dollars”
“…then we smashed our shit”

Those are all the lines I can remember, please, please somebody help me?!

Thanks.

It wasn’t easy to find, but here you go.

Thank you, -ism, for asking the question, and Gazoo for answering it. I heard this song once on the radio back in high school, and have been wondering about it ever since. Today I get to cross an item off the “Nagging Questions” list.

This song almost resulted in me crashing my Chevette, ROTFLMAO while driving. Thanks for the flashback.

I must say that that was one of the more difficult lyrics searches I’ve ever done. (And if you’ve read the thread about the trivia contest I play in, you can imagine that I’ve done my share.) It was worth it when I finally found it though, even if I’ve never heard the song.

Thankyou for finding that song for me! I really, really appreciate it.
