I was listening to the radio on my way home from work (channel surfing) and heard a song that I can only remember part of (the chorus). Here’s what I remember:
Its a current song.
The singer is male.
It’s nice and laid-back.
The chorus goes something like a slow "Hey lah… hey lah, lah…
It’s stuck in my head and I’d like to find it. Can’t remember the radio station to look up a playlist and many old songs are turning up in my google and YT search for “Hey lah.”
Does this song ring a bell for anyone? Please share if you know the artist/song name. Bonus points for anyone who gets this in the next 15 minutes.
I’m glad you found the song, although I’m surprised you managed to miss it 10 years ago. I remember it was such a big hit that there were people complaining here on the SDMB about how they couldn’t escape it!
I was living in Asia at the time, and was in a fast food restaurant one day when “Hey Ya” came on the sound system. I’d never heard it before (this was before YouTube), but almost immediately thought “Wow, this must be the song people keep complaining about on the SDMB!” It actually made me really happy to feel like I wasn’t totally out of touch with current American pop culture even though I was so far away. I thought, and still think, it’s a pretty good song, although I might feel otherwise if I had heard it everywhere I went for months.
My own experience with first hearing that song leaves me astonished that anyone could remember the “hey ya” part but not the “shake it like a Polaroid picture” part.
