A little more searching based on that gives lyrics such as “Livin’ on the edge, flyin’ down the hill.”

No, I found “Seduce Me Tonight” and that isn’t it.
I don’t think so… I just really feel it’s Billy Joel and I thought it was Only The Good Die Young, but the version of that I found on YouTube didn’t have the phrase I have stuck in my head.

its called living on the edge its from the early 80’s. the lyrics are living on the edge hanging by a thread soaring thru the high on eagles wings. I looked for this song forever and finally found it. hope this helps.
this song talks about getting down the highway leavin it all behind. i sure hope its the one your looking for, its frustrating when you cant get it out of your head and cant find the name or anything. this song wasnt real big back in the 80s, but it was one that stuck
