Song of the Siren

When I first heard of this song, it was at the end of a Monkees episode and it was entirely acoustic(and very beautiful). I’m wondering who was performing that? The closest version I could find was Tim Buckley, but that was more of a rock-like version and it wasn’t what I was looking for.

I know that Tim Buckley did perform acoustic at the end of an episode of the Monkees. I’m not familiar with this song, but it’s a good chance that it was the one performed.

Yup. It was Tim Buckley. I just had to look more carefully for that particular version of the song.

I’m happy! I haven’t heard that version in YEARS!

The good is that I’ve also found a lot of other versions of the song.

I feel so validated!!

Check out the version by This Mortal Coil, it’s awesome.

I have. It’s beautiful!

This is a really beautiful version, and closes out the very nice (if a little expensive) Rhino records compilation ‘Morning Glory’. If that song isn’t enough to inspire purchasing the CD, the front cover shows Tim in front of a wall with a large poster on it advertising a show by the Velvet Underground and Nico!
