Song that sounds like Wolfman Jack

A friend heard a bluesy-style song which sounds like Wolfman Jack singing in which parts of the lyrics were “Give it to me”- any idea what this could be? I haven’t heard it so I can’t give any better description than that.

I don’t have your asnwer, but found the wiki entry fascinating.

I Gotcha - Joe Tex

Oh shoot. When I saw the Subject Line I thought I knew exactly what song it was, but then I clicked in and read the OP. Nope, it’s not bluesy. Still, can’t pass up a chance to link to this great song and video!

“Gimme Dat Ding” by the Pipkins

That (very prolific) guy, Tony Burrows, does sound like Wolfman Jack!

Both suggestions were noble efforts, but I’m pretty sure they’re not the song! I will direct her to them, however.

It may be a longshot, but worth trying anyway: “Clap for the Wolfman,” by the Guess Who. The lead singer and the band do the actual singing, but Wolfman Jack himself interjects with various statements.

YouTube link here.

Was it the J Geils Band?

Captain Beefheart?

Chester Burnett, aka Howlin’ Wolf, perhaps? The first time I heard one of his songs, I thought it was Wolfman Jack.

AND THE WINNER IS…! (I couldn’t believe it when she told me, and then I had to explain to her what “blues” music was.)

Thank you!

Yeah, when I heard that on an oldies station I was sure it was Wolfman Jack, and I had to google it. I got to this forum and mbh is right. It’s Howlin’ Wolf - How Many More Years. We can give him his due for this great blueser, and imagine Jack’s still here. Long live The Wolf!

Wow, 2+ years later and I find out I was the winner! I’ve never won one of these before. Thanks for bumping the thread helpful55.

By the way, in case anyone doesn’t know, the person that song is actually imitating is Arte Johnson’s character “Tyrone F. Horneigh” from Laugh-In.
