Songs about god or spirituality that you enjoy.

Here are some I can think of off-hand:

Joan Osborne - What If God Was One Of Us

**Norman Greenbaum - Spirit In The Sky**
**Real Life - Send Me An Angel **
**Don McLean - American Pie**
**Madonna - Like A Prayer **
**Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer**
I know there's at least one more that I'm missing when I first thought to make this thread. Anyone want to add to the list?

Bob Marley - One Love

Atheist I night be, but Dives and Lazarus by June Tabor and the Oyster Band is a great song.

After Forever by Black Sabbath.

“Gloria” by Glad, an a cappella quintet.

Wish I could sing like that!

Pete Townshend–God Speaks of Marty Robbins

Dear God by XTC

Kanye West - Jesus Walks

P.O.D. - Alive (I’m not sure this song is about spirituality, but it seems to be about an existential crisis)

The album MCMXC a.D.

Good one!

My Sweet Lord - George Harrison

Though I’m sure if it’s a serious song or a parody,

Jesus by The Velvet Underground.

Give Us a Song - Jonathan Edwards

The Story of Isaac - Leonard Cohen

Casting Crowns - I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day

Pete Townshend - The Sea Refuses No River

The Killers w/ Neil Tennant & Elton John - Joseph, Better You Than Me

Jesus Built My Hotrod - Ministry

Well, it does have Jesus' name in the title.

Lost in the Stars - music by Kurt Weill, beautiful poetry by Maxwell Anderson, from the show of the same name. Sung here by Todd Duncan from the original Broadway cast.

The aching loneliness expressed in this song speaks to me in some fundamental way, and it helps me to understand what drives some people to the comforts of religion. It doesn’t work that way for me, but not for lack of trying.

Mercy Me: I can only imagine.

Mercedez Benz: Janis Joplin

Travelin’ Shoes - Maria Muldaur

Clark Sisters: You Brought The Sunshine
