Songs about...stormy weather

Trying to put together a playlist of ‘bad weather’ songs. Anything song about rotten, crummy, miserable weather. Mostly rain & storms, but snow, hail, twisters, etc. qualify as well.

So far, possible imclusions are:
Stormy Weather - Billie Holliday version
Ball & Chain - Janis Joplin (“Sittin’ by my window, lookin’ at the rain”)
Rain - the Beatles
Like the Weather - 10,000 Maniacs
Ride Captain Ride - Blues Image
Riding the Storm Out - REO Speedwagon

Any suggestions?

Stormy Monday, Jethro Tull (might be a cover of an earlier version, but that’s the one I know)
The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Gordon Lightfoot
Riders on the Storm, The Doors

ACDC- Stormy May Day
And I always liked the Standard "Raindrops (Falling on my Head) but that’s not really depressing sounding.

One of those hair bands had a song…Rock You Like a Hurricane…or something like that.

Walking in the Alabama Rain–Jim Croce (I think that’s the name of a song, may just be a lyric from one of his songs)

*Feels Like Rain *-- John Hiatt
*Kentucky Rain *-- Elvis Presley

Riders on the Storm – the Doors
When the Levee Breaks – Memphis Minnie (for purists) or Led Zeppelin

*Gotta See Jane, *(R. Dean Taylor, Golden Earring, etc.) “Drivin’ through the pourin’ rain”
*The Rain, the Park and Other Things, *(Cowsills)
Who’ll Stop the Rain, CCR
Have You Ever Seen the Rain, CCR
Rock You Like a Hurricane, Scorpions
Little Tornado, Aimee Mann

Louisiana Rain, Tom Petty
It’s Raining Again, Supertramp
*Here Comes the Flood, *Peter Gabrield

Not really about bad weather, more of an allegory to love: Follow on, Danú

“Wasn’t That A Mighty Storm?” Eric von Schmidt (among others)
“Three Feet High And Rising” Johnny Cash
“Here Comes The Rain Again” Eurhythmics
“Rainy Day In June” The Kinks
“Rainy Night In Georgia” Brook Benton
“In The Rain” The Dramatics
“I Can’t Stand The Rain” Ann Peebles
“Rainy Days And Mondays” The Carpenters

Wasn’t That a Mighty Storm – Eric Von Schmidt

This Mortal City – Dar Williams (about an ice storm, more or less)

Summer Rain – Johnny Rivers (kind of upbeat, actually)

At the Harbour – Renaissance

Stormy Weather - Pixies
Snowstorm - Galaxie 500

Stormy Sky–The Kinks

Scorpions, I think.

“Storms in Africa” and “Listen to the rain” by Enya

“Concerto for a Rainy Day” – Electric Light Orchestra (consists of four interconnected songs: “Standin’ in the Rain”, “Big Wheels Turning”, “Summer and Lightning”, and “Mr. Blue Sky”)

“Laredo Tornado” – Electric Light Orchestra

Me and Bobby McGee - Janis Joplin. And the 3000 other people who have sang it I guess. Well actually it’s Kris Kristofferson but I’m going to pretend it’s JJ anyway.
“Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained,” and later on in the song, “Windshield wipers slapping time, I was holding Bobby’s hand in mine,”

Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy.

:smack:

I’ve spent the last 20 years or so (since I first heard the song) wondering what the hell a “diesel dam” was!

These aren’t necessarily ABOUT weather, but…

  1. “Lightning Strikes” by Aerosmith
  2. “Lightning Crashes” by Live
  3. “The Thunder Rolls” by Garth Brooks
  4. “The Storm” by Big Country
  5. “The Sky Is Crying” by Steview Ray Vaughn

Mistral Wind - Heart.
