This is probably not true at all as is pertains to hip hop. But I can’t blame someone your age and demographic from minimizing it.

Anyway I don’t think your minimizing of hip hop’s impact on music is accurate.
I didnt. It has a big impact on music, and I think the genre will continue. It is just that it is very obvious that other than a few of the Old School songs, individual rap songs dont last long- they are quickly replaced by a new song. Kinda Like Pop. Pop will be with us forever, but a lot of Pop songs chart- then disappear.
So hip hop as a genre has a big impact.

It’s not obvious to me, but I see how it might be for you. You have a much better chance of remembering AM rock music from the 60s and 70s because that’s what you grew up with.
