Songs sung by animals

Forty Years ago Rainbow Connection by Kirmit the Frog was on the charts. What other songs had animals as vocalists in the song? The animal doesn’t need to be the main singer, so songs like Disco Duck would count.

By the way… Adam Ant, the Eagles and so forth don’t count - they are humans.

Are you counting movies? If so, lots of Disney and others.

Disney is great for this.

Bare Neccessities

Hakuna Matata

Under the Sea

(what else we got?)

Crazy Frog

The Chipmunk Song, of course, as well as other songs by Alvin and the Chipmunks.

“We are Siamese”

Froggy Went A-Courtin’, though the animals’ parts are spoken instead of sung.

Rowlf the Dog, Cottleston Pie. He was doing that when Kermit was still a tadpole puppet. He got it from Winnie the Pooh.

Three Little Fishies

A sadder tale about three little birdies, A La Volette.

Um, I hate to break this to you…

Ernie sang “Rubber Ducky”. Wait, is he an animal?

Dude, Ernie ain’t an animal. Now, Bert? The jury’s still out.

From Don Bluth’s An American Tail, there’s a song I heard played many times in 1986, “Somewhere Out There” sung by mice, Fievel and Tanya Mousekewitz

Dancing on the Moon.

Too many cartoon-critter songs exist; they should not be counted. Real animals are needed. Parrots, probably, or those keyboard devices that pinched the tails of trapped cats. Or JINGLE BELLS sung by sampled dogs.

On the intro to MR BOJANGLES, Teddy the dog sings a bit of OLD RUGGED CROSS. Sort of.

Anything by Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Jon Williamson had an Australian hit with Old Man Emu:

*Let me tell you of an interview with an Old Man Emu
He’s got a beak and feathers and things
But the poor old fella ain’t got no wings

Aren’t you jealous of the wedge-tailed eagle
While the eagle’s flyin’ round and round I keep my two feet firmly on the ground
Now I can’t fly but I’m tellin’ you, I can run the pants off a kangaroo*

and so forth.

Does Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict count?

Flanders and Swann did a bunch of animal songs, the most famous of which are the Hippopotamusand the Gnu.

I don’t suppose this counts.
