Songs that feature stuttering

This could well be a very short topic and I fully expect someone to come along with links to the last five times this has been done here, but what can you do?

So I’ve been thinking about this all day and I could only come up with four songs. There must be many more:

You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet - Bachman Turner Overdrive

Bad To The Bone - George Thorogood

My Generation - The Who

Benny and The Jets - Elton John

Sometimes I think that De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da by The Police counts as stuttering.

Let’s not forget the grandaddy of stuttering songs.

*K-K-K-Katie, K-K-K-Katie,
You’re the only g-g-g-girl that I adore,
When the m-m-m-moon shines,
Over the c-c-c-cowshed,
I’ll be waiting at the k-k-k-kitchen door.
*

Would Del Shannon’s “Runaway” count? “And I wonder, wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder…”

st-st-st-st-stutter rap!

Good one!

I was trying to remember any hip hop or rap stutter songs but I couldn’t come up with anything.

“Stuttering” by Ben’s Brother
“D’Yer Make 'er” by Led Zeppelin
“Blue Moon” (I forget the artist)

Not sure if this counts, but The Reflex by Duran Duran

Why-y-y-y-y don’t you use it?

Try-y-y-y-y not to bruise it.

Buy-y-y-y-y time don’t lose it.

The Reflex -flex -flex -flex -flex -flex

On second thought, all the “stuttering” in this song comes after the word instead of before.

Ch-ch-ch-changes - David Bowie

Porky and Bess with Garret Morris & Cicely Tyson.

M-m-m-m-my Sharona.

I’ve always loved this song.

Stuttering was a characteristic of mod music in 1960’s Britain. This little quirk of modom was copied most famously by The Who in “My Generation”, but the Rolling Stones, Kinks, and various other bands cribbed it along the way to seem like “one of the guys.”

Get-get-get-get-get over it…

Don’t know who it’s by, but that song just popped into my head.

And now it won’t leave - argh.

OK Go - Get Over It

First one that comes to mind for me is A Praise Chorus - Jimmy Eat World

Ah, ba ba ba ba Barbara Ann…

In another meta-reference, Nails for Breakfast, Tacks for Snacks by Panic! at the Disco has the line

*The Punk and the Godfather *by the Who:

Does “la-la-la-la-la-Lola” count?

I suppose it doesn’t count if there is studio-induced stuttering, but BT’s “Somnambulist” has some serious stuttering.
