Songs that give you chills (good or bad)

The bad kind of chills are caused by “Come Together”. I hate that song. “Hold you in his arms yeah you can feel his disease”…that creeped me out as a kid, and I just don’t like the whole creepy sound of it.

I’ve never been impressed with Disturbed but then again all I know is their radio songs. So this was an excellent surprise. Thank you for sharing.

It’s always better when a cover has it’s own interpretation otherwise it’s just a poor imitation.

The build up of his voice is just beatific.
My own conrtibution:

Heart of Stone: by The Crash Test Dummies

It’s soft and uplifting and sweet and sad.

Thanks for that Disturbed cover–excellent.

For me, the back story to Queen’s The Show Must Go On always gave the song an extra side helping of goosebumps on hearing.

Camera Obscura’s version of Super Trouper.

Sam Smith’s acoustic version of “Latch”:

and his “Lay me Down”:

The latest for me is Courtney Barnett’s “Depreston”. For some reason in the middle of the song when it’s “revealed” that the house is a “deceased estate” and she “can’t think of floorboards anymore” the bottom just drops out for me.

“Hurt” bu Christina Aguilera. Heartbreaking.

Paul Simon’s performance of this “The Sound of Silence” at the 9/11 tenth anniversary ceremony was pretty chill-inducing too…

“Simon, el gran varon” by Willie Colon.

It’s a great but PROFOUNDLY sad song with a great rhythm.
I get both happy and sad each time I hear it.
.

The chills set in immediately when Johnny Cash covers NiN’s “Hurt”:

Sad and creepy, yet lovely, chills from "Bad Blood" (heard in The Walking Dead) by Alison Mosshart and Eric Arjes:

I never heard of probably 2/3 of these songs mentioned.

I get chills from much of early U2. ‘In The Name of Love’ and ‘With or Without You’.

And ‘Born In The USA’, Bruce Springsteen.

A lot of show tunes.

U2: “All I want is you”

Audra McDonald singing "Summertime

It’s like an angel.

Always a favorite and THE best rendition of the musical EVER!!!

FUCKIN’ A. New to me and I’m another that would have NEVER found this but for the SDMB. THANK YOU. This is stunning. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve listened/watched this since you posted.

My contribution: Something silly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsgWUq0fdKk Total Eclipse of the Heart…literatlly!

So glad I started this thread; I bought and downloaded that Disturbed cover just yesterday because of it.

I love that literal version of T E of the H. Here is the literal “safety dance”:

Very cool, Thanks for posting this.

For those that have Amazon Prime, this is available for free streaming.

Echo the sentiment for Johnny Cash’s Hurt

Also, Queensryche’s Silent Lucidity. The whole “dream control” section with the distorted voice and the “help me” whisper at the end… eerie and spooky.

“Who Wants Live Forever?”- Queen
“Don’t Try So Hard”- Queen
“Why”- Annie Lennox

A haunting cover version of a well-known song mixed with a fan-edited video tribute for the BBC series “Sherlock” - the music and the visuals work very well together:
