Bagpipes get me every time. When I was in NYC a few years ago I was on the observation deck of The Empire State Building when I happened upon some police officers who were on their way to a 9-11 memorial service. They were dressed in kilts and had bagpipes. I struck up a conversation with them and asked if they would play Amazing Grace for me. They were all so kind and did, in fact, play. At this point it drew quite a crowd and of course there’s little ol’ me standing next to them with tears streaming down my face. It was hauntingly beautiful.
