Songs that make you think of a movie

The harmonica theme from “Once Upon A Time In The West”.

“The Blue Danube” from “2001: A Space Odyssey”.

“The End” from “Apocalypse Now”.

“Gimme Shelter” from the documentary of the same name about the disastrous Altamont Festival.

“You Never Can Tell” from “Pulp Fiction”.

Dueling Banjos – Deliverance
All Over The World (ELO) – Paul
Born To Be Wild – Easy Rider
Wings Of A Dove (as sung by Crow & Tom Servo) – Boggy Creek II: and the Legend Continues (MST3K version)
Pipeline (Dick Dale & Stevie Ray Vaughn) – Back To The Beach

“Under Pressure” (Queen/David Bowie) pops up in a lot of films, but I always associate it with It’s Kind of a Funny Story (2010, with Zach Galifianikis and Emma Roberts).

Eh, late to the thread and most of the ones that spring to mind have been done. But…

Wonderful World (Sam Cooke) - Witness

j

That one reminds me of Animal House. I can’t hear it without thinking of John Belushi going through the cafeteria line.

As Time Goes By - Casablanca
Solace - The Sting
Dies Irae (Mozart) - Amadeus
Lux Aeterna - Requiem for a Dream
Shout - Animal House

Never seen Animal House…

But I’ll add

If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out (Cat Stevens) - (another from) Harold And Maude

j

I’ll Melt With You - Valley Girl
The Pink Panther of the movie of the same name

And most of the others already mentioned. But not all.

Holiday Road - National Lampoon’s Vacation

Oh Yeah (Yello) and Danke Schoen (Wayne Newton) - Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

To Sir with Love - I didn’t really like the song until I saw the movie.
I’m into Something Good - The Naked Gun

Wasn’t Born To Follow - Easy Rider
We’ll Meet Again - Dr. Strangelove
9th Symphony - Clockwork Orange
The Look of Love - Casino Royale
Get Right Back -Slapshot

Xanadu?

No, Paul.

“Call Me” - American Gigolo
“If You Want It Come And Get It” -The Magic Christian
“Hooked on a Feeling” - Guardians of the Galaxy

The whole soundtrack, but especially “Lost in the Shadows” for The Lost Boys
“Father and Son” by Cat Stevens for Guardians of the Galaxy 2

and I can’t believe I’m the first to say this, but

“Eye of the Tiger” for Rocky 3

and

“Burning Heart” for Rocky 4

Rock N Roll High School from
Rock N Roll High School.
Ramones.

Songs associated in my mind to the following movies (since they’re where I first heard the songs, usually as closing themes):
Robby Williams; “Let Me Entertain You” - Mean Machine
The Seatbelts’ “Knock A Little Bit Louder” - Cowboy BeBop*
Rooster’s “Good To Be Here” - Operation Stormbreaker
The Greenhornes’ “Saying Goodbye” - The Green Hornet
Johnny Thunder’s “I’m Alive” - American Animals

As: for Caddy Shack, I always think first “Anyway You Want It” rather than “I’m Alright”, but personal taste I guess.

*So, Earth’s 1st Martian colony will look like early 1980s lower Manhattan, but with monorails. OK…

I’ve had a handful of friends that can’t listen to American Girl by Tom Petty because it reminds them of Silence Of The Lambs or Stuck In The Middle With You by Stealers Wheel because of Reservoir Dogs.
However, for me, any time I hear Night Ranger by Sister Christian, I can’t help but think of Boogie Nights.
If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s hard to understand how tension there was in this scene.
