Songs that make you think of a movie

James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” always makes me think of Running on Empty.

“Wind Beneath my Wings”= * Beaches *

“It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas” always makes me think of * Home Alone 2, * if only for the scene(with that song playing in the background) where Kevin walks out of the Plaza to find a limo waiting for him and is presented with an entire cheese pizza. Heh.

Build Me Up Buttercup from Mallrats

Raindrops keep Falling on my head from the worse scene in BC and the SK.I always picture Paul Newman riding the bike with whatsername on the bike with him.

I wish they would have played a song when Butch goes up to Lurch and explains the knife fight rules to him.Or when they make the river jump.Or even a song to Woodcock,Mr Harriman’s loyal safe keeper in the train.

Lol Titan2. slickroenick stole mine.

I’ll say the Bond songs which became hits of thier own: ‘Live and Let Die’ by Sir Paul being the most obvious.
‘View to a Kill’ and “The Spy who Loved Me” being the only other ones you still may still hear on the oldies station from time to time.

This may be cheatin’ but also:
Springsteen’s ‘Philadelphia’, Parton’s ‘9 to 5’

That one makes me think of There’s Something About Mary.

“Tenderness” (General Public) and “Supermodel”(?) - Clueless
“Try a Little Tenderness” (Otis Redding) - Pretty in Pink
“Tiny Dancer” (Elton John) - Almost Famous
“In God’s Country” (U2) - Three Kings
“We Got The Beat” (The Go-Gos) - Fast Times at Ridgemont High
“American Girl” (Tom Petty) - The Silence of the Lambs
“Free Fallin’” (Tom Petty) - Jerry Maguire
“Rhapsody in Blue” (George Gershwin) - Manhattan
…and I think from now on whenever I hear “I’ve Got The Power” (Snap), I’ll think of Bruce Almighty.

I have a few:

  • The Verve “Bitter Sweet Symphoney” - Cruel Intentions as well

  • Simple Minds “Don’t You (forget about me)” - The Breakfast Club

  • The Doors “The Ebd” - Apocolypse Now

  • Aerosmith “Sweet Emotions” - Armagedon

  • The Animals “House of the Rising Sun” - Casino

  • Yardbirds “Layla” (Outtro) - Goodfellas

Everytime I hear the beginning chorus of Kenny Loggins “I’m Alright” I can close my eyes and picture sunrise at Bushwood Country Club.

Mine is fairly new. The new Velvet Revolver song reminds me of the Hulk. Also Highway to the Dangerzone by Kenny Loggins takes me directly to my fighter jet :stuck_out_tongue:

My Sharona - Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle

and i’m still trying to erase this from my mind after catching a rerun of this show which i haven’t watch before -

Do You Really Wanna Hurt Me - The Wedding Singer

Ashamed of my earlier try :

Louie Louie reminds me of Animal House

Born To Be Wild - Easy Rider
Blue Velvet - Blue Velvet
And for John Schlesinger
Everybodys Talking At Me - Midnight Cowboy

Most of these have been said, but here goes: [ul]
[li]Stuck in the Middle With You- Reservoir Dogs[/li][li]Singin’ in the Rain- A Clockwork Orange[/li][li]Louie Louie- Down Periscope[/li][li]These Boots are Made for Walking, The Bird is the Word, Theme to The Mickey Mouse Club- Full Metal Jacket[/li][li]Dragula- The Matrix[/li][li]Don’t know the names, but one song about “An American boy, raised on the radio” and another “she’s gonna be somebody’s baby”- Fast Times at Ridgemont High[/li][li]Shooting Star- Snatch[/li][/ul]

When I hear “The Little Drummer Boy,” I think of “The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies.”

“And Then He Kissed Me” - makes me remember Adventures in Babysitting - Elisabeth Shue dancing around in her 80’s poofy dress.

Susan

“Old Time Rock ‘N’ Roll” always makes me think of Risky Business where Tom Cruise is dancin’ about.

There are two for Top Gun : Danger Zone (Is there really anything else you could possibly associate this song with? Without the movie, the song would be useless) and You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling.

What's the song from City of Angels that plays when she is hit by the truck? Anyway, whenever I hear it, I picture Meg Ryan on that damn bike about to get hit.

I also associate Build Me Up Buttercup with Something about Mary.

Rocky Theme....pretty obvious. Some you just can't separate if you tried.

“Sounds of Silence” - The Graduate

Strangely, while this applies also to “Mrs. Robinson”, I think it’s much stronger with “Sounds of Silence”.

Nods to Say Anything, Breakfast Club, and Back to the Future.

My additions:

Queen “We are the Champions” - Revenge of the Nerds (We must stop nerd persecution!)

Tears for Fears “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” - Real Genius

Vangelis “Chariots of Fire” …in Mr. Mom  (The part where Michael Keaton is in that company race.)

Pashnish mentioned Tenderness from Clueless, but I relate that song to the movie Weird Science.

I live 80’s movies.

er live = like. I live in the 21st century, not stuck in the 80’s.
