Songs that never fail to put you in a bouncy mood

I have 643 songs that, for the most part, never fail to put me in a bouncy mood. Details available upon request

Robin

Sound system by Operation Ivy

“Flagpole Sitta” by Harvey Danger.

“Strawberry Deluxe” by Skulker
“Violet” by Hole
“Sir Psycho Sexy” Red Hot Chilli Peppers

I’m with you on that one, Sara.

And I’m probably worse than anyone on this count…I just have to think or hear one line of certain songs and I’m bouncy for hours.

“Why do you build me up, Buttercup baby, just to let me down? And mess me around…”

“Just give me some kind of sign now, yeah m’baby, to show me that you’re mine now, oh yeah…”

“We’re so sorry, Uncle Albert…”

Yeah, I’m a lost case.

sigh Sheesh. That would be a lost *cause.[i/] Truer words were never spoken.

“Itchycoo Park” by the Small Faces (It’s all too beautiful…)
“Rainy Day Woman #13 and 52” (whatever! His only song I can stand.) by Bob Dylan (Everybody must get stoned!)
“Fight for Your Right To Party”, “Sabotage”, and “Body Movin’” by the Beastie Boys.
“Sweet City Woman” by…somebody. (She feeds me love and tenderness and macaroons.)
“Sir Duke”, “Superstition”, “Isn’t She Lovely”, and “Never Had a Dream Come True” by Stevie Wonder (Get that last one! God knows why it hasn’t become better known.)
“Daydream” by the Lovin’ Spoonful.
“All Star” by Smash Mouth. (Don’t know why I like this.)
“Pretty Fly for a White Guy” and “Why Don’t You Get a Job?” by the Offspring. (Ditto.)

Since there’s about a billion of these, I’ll skip to the best, the king of them all, “In The Summertime” by Mungo Jerry. Hunted for years to get this. It was worth it.

Depends on my mood at the time; all the following work for me.

“Don’t Worry, Be Happy” – Bobby McFerrin
“Beautiful Day” – Beach Boys (Americathon soundtrack)
“Axel F” – Harold Faltmeyer(?)
“Party All Night” – Quiet Riot
“Boys Are Back In Town” – Thin Lizzy
“Roadrunner” – The Gnats
“South of the Border” – Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass
Any polka by Weird Al Yankovic

A strange and eclectic mix, but effective nonetheless.

Great list so far. Really good songs. These are the ones that popped up in my mind when I first read it

River of Dreams- Billy Joel
Love in an Elevator- Aerosmith
So What- Metallica
Stray Cat Strut- Stray Cats
Great Balls of Fire- Jerry Lee Lewis
Cottoneye Joe- Rednex (I don’t know why. It makes me happy)

That’s all I can think of right now. The stuff I’ve read has been good stuff that also works. I’m sure others will post things that I’ll say… “OOOH yeah!”

Isn’t that one by the Isley Brothers, too?

My #1 all time bouncy song: “I’m All Right” by Kenny Loggins. You know - the Caddyshack song. Never fails to put me in a good mood.

Then there’s “Jet City Woman” by Queensryche…

Here’s a few that haven’t been listed yet:

Some soul standards (this is real soul music, guys, not that modern crap):
Hold On by Sam & Dave
In the Midnight Hour by Wilson Pickett
Get Ready by a whole bunch of people; my favorite is the 21-minute version by Rare Earth.

And the ultimate, all-time feel-good song:
Good Lovin’ by the Young Rascals.

For some reason music could NEVER change the mood I’m in. I usually listen to music that reflects my mood. I listen to these songs when I’m feeling bouncy.

Don’t Worry Be Happy -Bobby Mcferrin

Megalomaniac -KMFDM

I Miss You -Bjork

Istanbul (Not Constantinople) -They Might Giants (a lot more energy than the Four Lads version)

N 2gether Now -Limp Bizkit + Method Man

Double Trouble -The Roots + Mos Def

**Popcorn ** -Aphex Twin (Hot Butter cover)

**So What ** -Metallica (I think it’s a cover though)

They Might Be Giants, I mean. Oops.

Stuff by the Go-Go’s, particularly “Vacation,” “Head Over Heels,” “Tonight,” and “Lust To Love.”

Great question!

Feelin’ Groovy (The 59th Street Bridge Song) by Simon and Garfunkel. Love to sing along with their harmonies and it never fails to put a smile on my face.

For real bounciness, I like dance music and substanceless bubblegum pop.

  1. “Push It” by Salt n’ Pepa
  2. “Daydream Believer” by the Monkees
  3. “Sugar Sugar” by the Archies
  4. “Where the Streets Have No Name,” Pet Shop Boys version only, please
  5. “Waterloo” by Abba

  7. “Here I am, Baby” by Al Greene (don’t give me none of that UB40)

And so on.
