Songs that utilize sound effects

I’ll start it out with two I heard today:

Summer in the City”, by Lovin’ Spoonful. SE: Car horns.

Love Reign O’er Me”, by The Who. SE: Rain.

Note: Please don’t reply with a link to a site that lists 419 songs with their sound effects; it’s more fun if we come up with them on our own.
mmm

The Beatles - Back in the USSR (plane landing).
The Box Tops - The Letter (ditto)

Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited If you want to count a slide whistle as a sound effect. I think it counts in that song since it’s only used for a brief second at the very beginning.
Beatles - A Day In The life, Alarm Clock

Do movie clips count?

If so: Every White Zombie song.

Also:
The Who - Dr. Jimmy (wind)
Elton John - Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding (wind)
Bloodrock- D.O.A. (sirens)

You mentioned LROM, but really, Quadrophenia is full of sound effects (including Pete smashing a whole room full of stuff at the very end).

The first song that came to mind though was the car horn and “jungle sounds” from Apeman.

Pink Floyd: “Money” - cash registers and coins

Studio recordings that use the sound of an audience as a sound effect:
Beatles: “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”
Procol Harum: “Power Failure”
Yes: “Release Release”

Kid Koala’s “Carpal Tunnel Syndrome” is adorable – it uses the sound of a clacking typewriter for the beat.

Don’t forget the industrial bands like Einsturzende Neubauten who would use actual industrial machinery alongside regular instruments in their music.

Metal Machine Mu…nah, too easy.

How about the lion roar in “Bungle in the Jungle” (Jethro Tull)?
mmm

Rubber Duckie by Ernie (splashing and squeaking).

Beatles’ Yellow Submarine (chains, bell, bubbles, etc.)

Anything by Spike Jones.

Duran Duran - Girls on Film - camera
Duran Duran - New Moon on Monday - fireworks

Van Halen - Panama - Car engine revving

ELO - Telephone Line - telephone ring tone

Buckner & Garcia - Pac-Man Fever! - Pac-Man sounds

Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett & the Cryptkickers - Monster Mash - creepy sounds

Detroit Rock City by KISS (car engine revving, big crash at the end). Rather annoying actually. I prefer the version on Double Platinum without the effects.

409 (car engine revving) by The Beach Boys.

Hell’s Bells (a bell, of course), For Those About To Rock (cannon fire), and The Jack (pub crowd booing) by AC/DC.

Black Sabbath (rain, thunder, church bell), War Pigs (air raid siren), Sweet Leaf (coughing) by Black Sabbath.

Metal Gods (robots marching, actually silverware being banged on a table) by Judas Priest.

Fireball (some sort of machinery kicking on) by Deep Purple.

Pink Floyd - Time. Clocks.
Pink Floyd - Cirrus Minor. Bird noises.

Neil Young - Will To Love. Crackling fire noises.

Ozark Mountain Daredevils - It Couldn’t Be Better. Crickets.

Bernard Cribbins - “Right Said Fred”.

Neil Diamond-Beautiful Noise. Traffic sounds

Landing in London by 3 doors down has the sound of windshield wipers and rain. I like the song a lot.

“Bat Out of Hell” sfx: motorcycle crash
“Leader of the Pack” sfx: motorcycle crash
“Let Em In” sfx: doorbell
“Freeze Frame” sfx: camera shutter

Paul Winter uses critter sounds in his jazz. Wolf, whales, etc.

Eminem’s “Stan” also has rain and thunder sounds, along with the scratching sound of a pencil on paper.
