Songs with cool chord changes.

Was that Squeeze with Jools Holland on keys? He’s the man, although I don’t think of him as a changes guy. I wasted a lot of time about ten years ago trying to cop some of his boogie stuff, back when I was into that.

The second two links have Jools. The first has Paul Carrack on keyboards.

I’ll check Carrack out – if he hung with “Jools,” he’s probably a badass. OT, but my nephew (2.667 YO) discovered the joy of the glissando three days ago – thanks, Jools! (I guess – I was doing all the heavy lifting!).

Maybe it’s not all that great, but I always like the way Band on the Run goes through changes. It may be mostly timing, but that’s what came to mind when I saw the thread title.

McCartney went through a stage where he used a lot of major-sixth and major-seventh chords, maybe influenced by Elton John and Carole King. And the final cadence in BOTR: iii, V, I is somewhat unusual for pop music.

It’s a G/B, which is probably why you’re getting the suggestion of a B minor out of it.

Wait, I’m confused. It’s a toss-up between “Werewolves of London” and “Sweet Home Alabama” (pace that other Keyboard forum). Happy eff day, everyone!

Good call with the slash chord, puly – I respect everything you have to say about piano, and you could probably cut the hell out of me in a contest, or whatever people do now. I’m not worthy!

ETA obligatory from a new Brooks fan: there, wolf. &c.
