Songs with ending jams

Does anyone know of any songs that have a good jam at the end (no vocals) of the song.

Thanks

Look for any of the Beatles concert tracks that have running times of 9 minutes or more. Like the longer Hey Jude.

Sepeltura and Soulfly have done some good outro jams. Check out these songs.

SEPELTURA

WAR- it’s a cover of the Bob Marley song and has a nice ending with acoustic guitars and a nice tribal drum beat.

Symptom of The Universe- cover of Black Sabbath, nice bluesy jam at the end

Kiaowis- Acoustic Jam recorded in a castle, very cool

SOULFLY

Soulfly and Soulfly 2- all acoustic jams. in memory of his slain step son.

Hand of Doom- another Black Sabbath cover, nice jam at the end

Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd

High Tides Forever - The Outlaws

(Buried in the middle instead of the end:)

Light My Fire - The Doors

Ina Gadda Da Vida - Iron Butterfly

Fire - Arthur Brown

Time - Chambers Brothers

danged smilies (not a jam)

Cheap Trick- ‘Need your love’ and ‘Gonna raise hell’

Huh? The Beatles stopped touring in 1966, and I guarantee none of their “concert tracks” run more than 4:30 (if that), let alone nine minutes. The “live” Hey Jude you may be thinking of was done on the David Frost show, and I don’t think it exceed nine minutes. I don’t even know that it qualifies under the OP, which specified “no vocals.” There vocals; in fact, arguably, the vocals are the most important part. There is no instrumental solo to speak of.

A better Beatles example is Helter Skelter. Not only a jam, but a fake ending.

“Thunder Road” has a sweet piano/guitar outro.

Toto - Rosanna

The radio version doesn’t have it, but the CD version is 5:33, the last 45 seconds or so being a cool jazz part.

Easy to find on Napster, before they go to a subscription model soon.

Actually, I nominate The End off Abbey Road, the only true jam the Beatles did, in the sense that each has a solo and continue to play off of each other in turn (though it does return to vocals at the end).

“Take It Home” by Thin White Rope. The extended version is on their brilliant CD entitled Moonhead. I just checked and it’s available as a cut-out for cheap on Amazon. An amazing, relatively unknown psychedelic guitar band.

Oh yeah, Green Grass & High Tides by the Outlaws. I could do without the singing, but the end of the song is a jam extravaganza.

Not sure if it’s considered a jam, but I love the piano exit at the end of Layla.

Applying a wide definition for “jam” here, a lot of Dream Theater songs have very elaborate non-vocal outros.

Hardly any of these songs are jams in the true sense of the word.I would try any live Cream track(particularly “Spoonful” from Wheels of Fire or “I’m so Glad” from Goodbye. These are true improvisation a thing all too rare in rock, where it’s usually a strong soloist with the band riffing away behind.

Didn’t Elton John and Billy Joel have songs with a endingJam to their songs?

“War Pigs” by Black Sabbath. The ending of the recorded version is rather short, but they sometimes stretched it way out in concert.

I’ve always liked-

This one’s for Coldfire:

Starship Trooper, by Yes ends with a great jam. My high school friends and I thought that the progression sounded like sex - first rhythm guitar foreplay, then adding a bit of ornamentation, then a full-blown electric guitar orgasm. Of course we had no clue about any of these things, but listen to the song and see if I’m lying.
