Sonic power generation

As those of you who, like me, have studied the way audio equipment works, know that a dynamic microphone actually generates its own electricity when it picks up the air-pressure disturbances we know as sound.

That has me wondering… would it be feasable to set up a huge number of dynamic mics around a very loud natural sound source, say a waterfall, and generate power or would it end up costing more than the power it would generate?

Those currents are very small and weak. It would be more economical and efficient to simply dam the waterway and use gravity to generate electricity.

And they’re also crappy friggin microphones, to boot.
