Do any of you Doppers own, or have used a video headset such as the Sony Glasstron, Olympus Eyetrek, Dyna Vision, ETC… I see these all over the web, especially on E-Bay, but I can’t find one in any retail stores anywhere, and I’m not shelling out $700-$1000 for one sight unseen. They’re supposed to be like having a theatre screen in your brain.
Are they? How do action movies look on them? What a about a
porno flick? Are they worth the money? I need a review from someone whose actually seen one of these things!
My birthday is coming up and my wife hinted that a Glasstron might be in my future…till she saw the price.
I’ve never heard of one before so I’m intersted as well. Should I pressure my wife for this gizmo?

…but I wouldn’t count on it. Hearing my wife talk it sounds as if she is WAY unwilling to shell out the bucks for an ‘unproven’ gizmo. Especially one as pricey as this.
Still, if she caves, I’ll be sure to let you know how it is…just don’t hold your breath.
I’ve used the Sony Glasstron for a while (my company bought a few :). It does work pretty well- it is like watching a big (52 inch or so) TV. You need to have a video source close by to plug into, though- a portable DVD player goes well with it.
Using it with glasses was a little uncomfortable- it put a fair amount of pressure on my nose, although I would probably get used it pretty quickly.
I’ve heard that playing video games with it isn’t as much fun as it might sound- although I didn’t try it, I heard that it can be disorienting.
If you’ve got a vision problem where you use one eye to see close-up, and the other long-distance, you might have trouble seeing it.

Never used one. However you can buy one at almost half that price from a company called DBL distributing. 1-800-733-6766 or http://www.dbldistributing.com. theyre wholesale only but will sell you one of anything. No bulk or quantity buying is required, just play like your a mom and pop store and keep your credit card handy!
