We’re about to purchase a new television. Do any of you have opinions about the Sony KV-24FS100 24-Inch?
Before you tell me it’s too small, please be aware that we are actually very happy with a 19 inch Sharp at the moment, and that the space we can put the television in won’t fit anything bigger than the 24 inch Sony base.
Consumer’s Digest had that on their best buy list for years, from 21? thru 27 incher. It’s most stores’ loss leader from Sony.If the price is right (and at 24" it should be) to comparable 24s,sounds like a buy to me.
I don’t know that they’re flat tube technology, tho the numerals (the FS100s) seem like it,the best picture in CRTs I’ve ever seen.I have a Panasonic.
I know how space restrictions are… All I could fit in my house was a 43" Sony…
btw… do you know how heavy those TV’s are?? it is a WEGA right? It is probably twice as heavy as my 43"…
I was going to go with a 36" WEGA, but the thing was like 250 lbs. the 43" projection was like 115 I think…
but that should be a great TV… the WEGA picture quality is incredible…
Yep, I brought a Wega recently, an all I can say is WOW! I went with the 32 inch, which runs IIRC 191 pounds. I’d imagine the picture is jawdropping no matter what size you go with.
I have the KV-32FS13 TV, and I love it. The Trinitron WEGA screens are crystal clear, especially if you use the S-Video connection. It may look like the screen is caved in if you’ve never had a flat screen before, but you’ll get used to it.
My only gripe was that there’s 4 video inputs, but only one of them had S-Video. So I gave that to the DVD and hooked up the PS2 on the normal component input.
Oh yeah, and it was one heavy beast, though the 24 inch should be a manageable weight. I had to reinforce my cabinet which was only rated for 150lbs (the TV is 163lbs I believe). Sauder was very nice, they sent me extra casters for free when I asked them how to reinforce it to stop the sagging.
ummm… wait…
Component of Composit? Component is better quality than S-video… Component is the one that is green blue and red I believe…
Composit is Red White and yellow…
If your DVD has component Outputs, and your TV has component Inputs… go out and buy a monster cable, and use that…
S-Video is an upgrade to use with composit… and I would use that for the Playstation who has an S-Video adapter now.
I actually just bought the 27" version of this TV yesterday. It is identical to the 24" in features I believe. The picture is great compared to our old 25" standard television! I played playstation on it last night and the lack of glare off the screen and vibrant colors made game playing much more enjoyable.
The only complaint I have so far is not really the television (I don’t think) but rather the quality of television programs in general. We have digital cable so I assumed that the picture would be very clear however it is REALLY grainy and I think perhaps the TV’s clarity only enhances the poor quality of the programs? Has anyone else noticed this?
All in all we are very happy with our purchase and after doing some research I would definetly endorse Sony.
With AT&T Digital Cable you always have lots and lots of viewing choices. Plus, our Interactive Programming Guide gives you a fast, easy way to find just what you want to watch." http://www.attbroadband.com
They don’t say anything about a better picture.
Maybe you need to use some of the picture quality settings to make your picture better? Perhaps not so much sharpness pezpunk?
We have a much better picture with TV only, even though the cable goes into the VCR. When we turn on and run the stations through the VCR, the picture is quite grainy by comparison. Beautiful DVD picture, though. Monty Python never looked so good.
