My peculiar aversion is to watching someone rifling through someone else’s desk, bureau or files drawers.
I also avoid movies with child or animal injury or abuse. In fact, I recently checked Wild Sargasso Sea out of the library and was completely blindsided by the scene where
the family’s pet parrot catches fire and burns up.
I had nightmares for a week.
I can’t watch movies in which someone maliciously maims someone else. They can kill them all they want, but don’t make them live through a lifetime of hell. Honestly, I’m pretty much against the death penalty, but would consider it for this.
Extra points for throwing acid in the face of attractive people, horrible burn victims, botched plastic surgery, etc. I wish with all my heart I had walked out of “Se7en” in the first 20 seconds - he found peoples’ greatest weaknesses and tortured them with it. Horrible. “Silence of the Lambs”, by the way, I had absolutely no problem with.
I also don’t like movies wherein some bully humiliates some poor undeserving soul.
Babies or children. Any movie with babies or very small children as the main character is a movie that I will absolutely refuse to watch.
Talking animals that are real animals with CGI mouth-movements and human voice overs. Make a movie with talking animals that are really talking animals, and I might consider watching it.
Musicals. Especially happy musicals.
Movies that are two hours of women sitting around discussing their feelings, and nobody ever gets blowed up. Nope, won’t watch those.
What? That’s not what you meant? My bad! q;}
