Sore throats and their progression

I’ve been diagnosed with a low-grade bacterial infection by my doctor. One of my symptoms has been a sore throat. It’s going away, but it seems that from the day I first experienced that symptom: Monday, the pain has progressed down my throat. It started off in the back of my mouth and then as the week has gone on, the pain has gone down a little bit further down my throat. Right now, it’s sort of a dull ache in the middle of my throat. I have a feeling that after today, the pain will be gone.

Is this a normal way for a sore throat to play out?

Answering my own question, what happened it turned out was that the antibiotics did indeed get rid of my sore throat, but when my throat was sore and I was eating some hot food, I swallowed in such a way to avoid the sore part and ended up burning a little bit of my throat.
