Great: Now I have a mental image of everyone at the funeral, as Ms. Feldon approaches the casket to pay her last respects, she hears a familar sound. Yep he’s wearing the shoe phone.
I remember one where they remade the revelation scene from Psycho. The woman turned the chair around and the remains of Norman’s mother had a cigarette in a dainty holder sticking out of her mouth. I also remember them doing a scene from Harvey that Don said he thought was better than the original.
I wonder if any of the actors on that show were ever heard from again? And I’m trying to remember- were both contestants amateurs or did they use any professionals? Mind’s a blank.
One of the times I first realized I loathed Andy Dick (we all have a story) was when he trashed Don Adams and Barbara Felder as “unfunny geezers” or something to that effect (and not facetiously) while he was appearing on the new Get Smart in the early 90s. Admittedly it wasn’t a great show, but one reason was it had Andy Dick on it (as their son).
I wonder if Bernie Kopell has been arrested for questioning yet.
PS- I was surprised to learn a while back that Adams is one of Hugh Hefner’s best friends. Supposedly he was almost a fixture at the Playboy Mansion on movie and poker nights.
No doubt that’s the second time this week you fell for it…
How tall does everyone suppose Don Adams was? I would’ve guessed around 5’6’ tops but IMDB claims he was 5’9". On the other hand they also list Barbara Feldon at 5’9" in spite of the fact that one of the Trivia items for “Get Smart!” tells how he needed to stand on a small platform during taping because he was two inches shorter than her.
I know IMDB often contains items researched by the painstaking method known as “someone made it up”. Am I right…Adams was shorter than 5’9", no?
(Laughing Lagomorph, 5’7" in his socks)
(Oh, and Barbara Feldon was a babe back in the day.)
“He was born Donald James Yarmy in New York City on April 13, 1923, Tufeld said, although some sources say 1926 or '27.”
He supposedly lied about his age to get into the Marines in 1941. 1923 is reasonable. 1926-27 isn’t.
In any case, the other ages given push him further away from 86, rather than closer.
OTOH (!), actors usually push their birth dates back*, so maybe the 1923 date is too late and maybe he didn’t lie about his age to get into the Marines.
(*At her current rate of age change, Nicole Kidman will soon have the distinction of being born after her first TV appearance.)
