Sound Bites in this Song, Where From?

Two songs here:

First: There seems to be a pretty popular sound bite that goes, “Are you sitting comfortably, then we’ll begin.”

Now the only place I know this from is the beginning of a Platinum Blond song…
Second and more obscure:

There is a song by Velvet Acid Christ called Fun with Drugs (Withdrawls) Throughout the song there is a kind of a monologue that is obviously from somewhere, I’m thinking a movie… anyway, it goes a bit like this:

80 dots of Mescaline, 4 sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half-full of cocaine … half a mickey of rum … * Then it ends with * You can always turn your back on a man, but never turn you back on a drug.

The monologue is spoken by the same man throughout the tune.

“Are you sitting comfortably” is a British catchphrase that seems to have something to do with reading stories to children. On a search it appears to come from a BBC radio or TV show called “Listen with Mother” that ran from 1950 to 1982.

The Hunter S. Thompson book led to the film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
