The descending bassline in both Brain Stew/Jaded by Green Day and Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground by the White Stripes are rip-offs of “25 or 6 to 4” by Chicago
2.The verse part of “Cumbersome” by Seven Mary Three is identical to the chorus of Hey Jude by the Beatles, right down to the key and tempo. Whenever Cumbersome used to come on the air I’d immediately start singing “Naaa-Naaa-Naaa,NaNaNaNaaaa…”
Holy Cats, I was just about to post this exact same thing! That song IS “Kodochrome”, and I have indeed sang the “Kodachrome” lyrics over the chorus to prove it to my wife. “Kodachroooo-oooo-ooome…they give us those niiiiiice bright colors…”
Fleetwood Mac ripped off Kodachrome just about note for note on their new single.
B&S evidently borrowed the flute part from Love’s “She Comes in Colors” for the piano part of “Seeing Other People” (my favorite Belle and Sebastian song, too!)
Speaking of “She Comes in Colors,” it evidently “inspired” “She’s Like a Rainbow” by the Rolling Stones.
I’ve always thought that the first four notes sounded identical to the Badfinger classic “Day After Day”.
***“Don’t you feel like **trying something new…
Don’t you feel like breaking out or breaking us in two”
vs.
**"I remember *finding out about you…
Every day my mind is all around you"
OK, the Coldplay song is apparently called “Clocks”, and it reminds me of the Bronski Beat song “Small Town Boy”.
The new Fleetwood Mac single that sounds like “Kodachrome” is called “Peacekeeper”. It is the song which seems to have a rooster on background vocals. It has gotten pretty good airplay in the Boston area.
It only plays a short bit of the intro, but the song is basically variations of that acoustic appreggio with some woodwindlike sounds (an early Moog?) in the background.
Also David Lee Roth took “Walk this Way” and remade it “Hammerhead”.
Also, and I am not sure who came first, but the Sir Douglas Quintet’s “She’s About A Mover” and the Beatles “She’s a Woman” sound very much alike.
Paul McCartney’s song “Listen to what the man said” sounds like the Fats Domino song “Walking to New Orleans”. And the middle part of Paul McCartney’s song “Live and Let Die” sounds like the Sugarloaf song “Green Eyed Lady.” Prince’s song “Little red corvette” sounds like The Supreme’s song “Up the ladder to the roof.”
The Chicago song “25 or 6 to 4” sounds like the Led Zeppelin song “Babe I’m gonna leave you” which sounds like The Beatle song “As my guitar gently weeps” which sounds like the song “keep the ball rollin’” by Jay and the Techniques. lol
