Recently, I’ve been thinking about the soundtrack of my life. If I wanted to make a movie of my life, which songs would be on the soundtrack? So, what would be the soundtrack of your life? Here’s mine:
Doobie Brother’s “Minute by Minute” - ages 2 to 4
John Lennon’s “Woman” - - ages 2 to 4
Bette Midler’s “The Rose” - ages 4 to 6
Cyndi Lauper “Girl’s Just Want to Have Fun” - age 6
Annie Lennox “Sweet Dreams” - age 6 to 7
“Only Paradise” - summer of age 7
Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” - age 7 to 8 (remember when he wasn’t a perv? Good times…)
Madonna “Like a Virgin” - age 9/10 (no one knew what a virgin was.)
Debbie Gibson “Foolish Beat” - age 10
Tiffany “I think We’re Alone Now” - age 10
Jesus Jones “Right Here, Right Now” - age 11 (the Berlin Wall had just come down, everything seemed possible.)
Queensryche “Silent Lucidity” - age 11
Extreme “More than Words” - age 11
Living Color “Cult of Personality” - age 11
New Kids on the Block - age 12 to 13 (ugh, the insanity)
Janet Jackson “Rhythm Nation” - age 13 to 14 (an album chock full of hit singles).
Paul Simon “Graceland” - age 14 to 15 (Mom would blast his album to wake us up on weekends).
Pearl Jam “Ten” - soundtrack to early high school years.
Nirvana “Nevermind” - high school soundtrack. (Remember the good old days of flannel shirts, mosh pits, and no teen pop?)
Alice in Chains “Man in the Box” - high school. Blew my mind
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Nine Inch Nails “Hurt” - age 17
Blind Melon “Rain” - age 17
Seal “Kiss from a Rose” - age 18
Simon & Garfunkel - age 18 (I discovered them my senior year in high school.)
Dave Matthews - college.
Jewel - college
Toad the Wet Sprocket - college.
Meatloaf “I Would Do Anything for Love” - my freshman roomate played this over and over.
Deep Blue Something “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” - ditto. Kill me now.
Chumbawampa “Tubthumping” - 21st birthday. (Jagermeister and this song… ow)
Ricky Martin “La Vida Loca” - age 22. My roomates and I had a collective orgasm when his video premiered.
Eiffel 65 “Blue” - cute at first but got progressively annoying.
Britney Spears - college to present.
Christina Aguilera - college to present.
The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again” - 9/11. (Eternally connected thanks to the concert in New York.)
This is all that I could think of while at work. What are yours?
