If your life had a soundtrack...

…what would be on it? Here’s some of mine, in no particular order:

[ul]
[li]Iggy Pop - “The Passenger”[/li][li]The Cure - “Harold and Joe,” “M”[/li][li]Dead Milkmen - “Moron”[/li][li]Eels - “Last Stop: This Town”[/li][li]James - “Sit Down”[/li][li]King Missile - “Cheesecake Truck”[/li][li]Luka Bloom - “The Acoustic Motorbike”[/li][li]Madness - “House of Fun”[/li][li]Magnetic Fields - “100,000 Fireflies”[/li][li]Material Issue - “Valerie Loves Me”[/li][li]Modest Mouse - “Never-Ending Math Equation”[/li][li]Morphine - “Cure for Pain”[/li][li]Pixies - “Dig for Fire,” “Where is my Mind?”[/li][li]Plastic Bertrand - “Ca Plane Pour Moi”[/li][li]Soul Coughing - “True Dreams of Wichita,” “Circles,” “So Far I Have Not Found the Science”[/li][li]They Might Be Giants - “Ana Ng”[/li][/ul]
These aren’t all necessarily songs i’d use to describe myself, but they all do a good job of describing a certain part of my life or my feelings in life.

At school we’ve actually made group soundtracks - it’s a really interesting tape. My freshman year (I can’t find last year’s at the moment - I guess it’s up at the pott shop), we had the following:

Rent - Seasons of Love
Barenaked Ladies - Who Needs Sleep (Eric’s song)
Indigo Girls - Closer to Fine (Suzanne)
U2 - One (Becky)
Ani DiFranco - 32 Flavors (Heather)
Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight
Chantal Kerviazuk - Leaving On A Jet Plane (Mandy)
Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London
The Lion King - Be Prepared (Greg)
Orcs - Where There’s A Whip There’s A Way
The Saint
Supertramp - The Logical Song (Brian)
Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf (Aaron)
Collective Soul - The World I Know (Jill)
Sarah McLachlan - Building A Mystery (Jason)
Semisonic - This Will Be My Year (Beth)
Black Sabbath - Paranoid (Denver)
Pie Tasters - Maggie Mae
Goldfinger - Question (Whitney)
Oasis - Hello (Katie)
WWF Soundtrack - The Brood (Ned)
Sarah Masen - Fly Baby (Erika)
wav file: Mulder? . . . What? . . . Suck my dick.

The songs really do make sense for all of those people, and the other ones are really aplicable for the year we had [though I don’t really want to explain exactly how for some of them . . .]

Pay attention – life does have a soundtrack. It’s not always musical, but it’s rarely silent.

Unless you live in South Central, it has far fewer gunshots, crashes, and explosions than a movie soundtrack. That doesn’t make it any less dramatic and beautiful.

Sorry, but defining my life by a few scraps of favorite music is too mundane and pointless, even for me.

Frighteningly my soundtrack would probably be “the third Reich and Roll” “Not Available” or maybe “God in Three Persons”
I can live without.

Lotsa showtunes and Monty Python stuff

Knights in White Satin

Rhapsody in Blue. That song was playing when I was born, and it keeps popping up at crucial times in my life. Plus I realy love the sound of it.

Mine would be three hours of Baby Elephant Walk peppered with a muted-trumpet’s WAA-WAAAAAAA for the occasional pratfall.

In the order they are on my MP3 list with CDs at the end:

Barenaked Ladies- Its all Been Done
Beatles- Let It Be
Billy Joel- Only the Good Die Young
Bob Dylan- Blowin in the Wind
Cyndi Lauper- Time After Time
Fiona Apple- Criminal
Garbage- Only Happy When it Rains
Glen Frey- You Belong to the City
**Goo Goo Dolls- Iris **
Guns n Roses- November Rain
John Denver- Sunshine on My Shoulders
Joydrop- Beautiful
Juice Newton- Angel of the Morning
Les Mis- I Dreamed a Dream
** Meredith Brooks- Bitch **
Metallica- Nothing Else Matters **
Green Day- Minority
Natalie Imbruglia- Torn
Nirvana- Rape Me
Phantom of the Opera- All I Ask of You
REM- Losing my Religion
RENT- One Song Glory
Sheryl Crow- If it Makes you Happy
Simon and Garfunkle- I am a Rock
Taylor Dayne- Original Sin
Train- Meet Virginia
Vengaboys- Boom, boom, boom
Miss Siagon- Sun and Moon, ** I’d Give my Life for You

RENT- Take Me or Leave Me, Without you
John Rutter’s Gloria- All things Bright and Beautiful

Um… I tried to cut it down… I like music a lot. The bold ones are my absolute ‘me’ songs. Take this to mean anything you want about me.

My sig is Shooting Star, a happy hardcore piece that I would include on that list, but the whole CD is one mixed length of music that I like a lot.

If? What do you mean “if”?

My life has a rather lush and replete soundtrack, if I don’t say so myself.

It’s called my music.

It is one of my reasons for living and it continually amazes me with its cathartic yet totally rewarding qualities. All sorts of incidents, be they falling in love, relationship breakups or even a flower in the park can find their way into the unending soundtrack that is my music.

Anyone who comes to the SF Bay Area SD Holiday Party will have an opportunity to find out.

The entire “Little Nicky” soundtrack.

The Fugs “Golden Filth LP, Nothing”

Monday nothing, Tuesday nothing, Wednesday Thursday Friday nothing gah gah gah gah, Saturday for a change a little more nothing, Sunday once more nothing.

January nothing, February nothing, March April May nothing gah gah gah gah, June and July for a change a little more nothing, August once more nothing, September nothing, October nothing, November and December nothing gah gah gah gah.

(Repeat both verses continually)

(Sung in a monotone, once you hear this song, it never leaves you, no matter how hard you try to forget it)

I don’t think I’d have a specific soundtrack per se.

What I want, though, is to have a minor chord played every time I tap someone on the back.

Now that would be fun.
