Your Theme Music...

If you could have a soundtrack follow you everywhere you go what would it be?

When you entered a room what would be playing?

We all know that many of us would have some cheesy 70’s porno theme playing whenever we hopped into bed and I figure some of us would have it playing all the time.

For all other times it would be the blues.

Fish heads fish heads
Roly poly fish heads
Fish heads fish heads
Eat them up, yum!

I don’t know if that is my actual theme music, but I couldn’t pass up a chance to actual say the lyrics.

The last 20 seconds of Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing, by Joe Satriani would be my current choice for “Room Entry” music.

“Thus Spake Zarathrusta.” (Sp?)

I have a fairly healthy ego.

“Suicide is Painless” on a solo sax.

A smoky, film-noir jazz theme, played on either a piano or a saxophone depending on my mood.

Billy Joel’s “You may be right (I may be crazy)”

Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries”

We had a weird tradition in my fraternity house. Someone would blast “Ride of the Valkyries” on his stereo system and that was a signal to the rest of us to come to whatever room the music was coming from. Once there, we chugged Rumpleminz.

It was always so weird. We’d be going about our business, hanging out, talking to girls and all of a sudden: da-DUM-da-da-DUM-DUM DUM-da-da-DUM-DUM and every Delt would come sprinting, looking every which way for the Rumpleminz.

Thus, it follows that I’m claiming that song for my theme music.

I’m not a big Doors fan, but Peace Frog is pretty cool intro music. Our local sports radio station uses it for one of their guys and I can’t think of many better.

My favorite is Fanfare For The Common Man by Aaron Copland.

Past that, I might have to go with Mr. Cynical and say, “Always With You, Always With Me”, or “The Crush of Love” by Satch.

A little Eric Johnson never hurts either.

Am I the only one here who walks around imagining the Charlie Brown theme playing all the time?

John

Most of the time it would be “this is the story of a girl who cried a river and drown the whole world”

But lately it’s been “Ugly Girl” by Flemming and John.

And thanks Thing 1 I now will have that song stuck in my head until I can pass it on!

Oooh!

For walking around music? The victory theme in The Natural!

For walking into a room: Jupiter, from Holst’s The Planets Suite. (da dah daaa da da da daaa… ooh, pretty.)

Anything from Edward Scissorhands. Then again, if that were to happen, everyone would probably look up in fear.

Or just a lone Spanish guitar playing some sexy ballad.

Every time I walk in a room, or in front of a mirror, I would want to hear I feel pretty by Bernstein/Sondheim (from West Side Story).

“And thanks Thing 1 I now will have that song stuck in my head until I can pass it on!”

Don’t mention it Kricket.

John

On a good day: Got my Mojo Workin’ ~ Muddy Waters

On a bad day: Too Old to Rock and Roll, Too Young to Die ~ Jethro Tull

On a badass day: Run Through the Jungle ~ Credence Clearwater Revival or Carmina Burana - Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi ~ Carl Orff

Typical work day: The Merry Go Round Broke Down ~ Cliff Friend and Dave Franklin

Oh, it would definitely change daily. Right now I’m feeling kinda loose and funky because I skipped work today, so I’ll go with “Grazing in the Grass” by Hugh Masekela.

You know, it’s that kind-of-rock, kind-of-soul, kind-of-jazz thing from around 1967, with the cowbells and the trumpet and the fuzzy electric bass in it?

Ahhhh, you’d know it if you heard it.

The funked up re-mix of Loreena McKinnett’s Mummer’s Dance.

I could listen to that forever and not get bored.
