What's on the soundtrack to your life?

This is actually something I do while I’m driving to pass the time, and I thought it might be fun for y’all.

Premise: Someone in Hollywood had the bright idea that your life would make a fantastic movie. They’ve written the script, casted it with all the hottest young (or old, depending on your age) stars. You’ve whined that you’ve had no control over the film at all, and the Hollywood muckety-mucks decide to let you choose a song to correspond with each scene. What songs would you pick?

Here are some suggested scenes. Feel free to add or subtract scenes to fit your own life (or dramatization thereof). And don’t worry about copyrights. That’s what the studio execs have lawyers for.

  1. Romantic interlude
    1a) Sex Scene
  2. Car Chase (what a life you’ve led!)
  3. Stirring oratory at the end of the film
  4. Pensive moment while you ponder the deeper meaning of life while staring at the tide coming in
  5. That moment in the film when you’re parked in front of your ex-love’s house wondering where everything went wrong, sobbing gently, and holding a single rose, just to see the cold-hearted jerk walk out with another person on their arm (Even though in real-life, you ended up in custody for stalking, the movie plays out differently). Don’t they even care?
  6. Action scene (kicking ass, taking names, that sort of thing)
  7. Scene in which you help the juvenile delinquent crippled orphans fix up the Orphanarium, thus teaching the kids the value of teamwork, and teaching you to believe in hope again, or some such tripe

Feel free to pick anything. For example, if you’re just essentially a brain in a vat, your answer to all the above might be “Tiny Bubbles.”

(Just so you know, most of my answers would be Nine Inch Nails songs (I’m a fifteen year old Goth kid trapped in a 30-year-old lawyer’s body), except my car chase song would involve banjos in some way.)

  1. Goody Two Shoes - Adam Ant
1a) Bolero - the jazzed up version by Stanley Jordan
  2. Running With The Devil - Van Halen
  3. Just Like You Said It Would Be - Sinead O’Connor
  4. Deep - Danzig
  5. All Wrong - God Lives Underwater
  6. *Escape (The Pina Colada Song) * - Rupert Holmes
  7. Into The Hands Of Death - Rob Zombie with Alice Cooper

Methinks you should watch the road and not post to SDMB while driving. But, I liked the OP. Was fun to think about.

The piano exit from Layla by Derick (Eric Clapton) and the Dominoes. Would be the recuring theme and have long shots of me staring at the road I’m supposed to walk.
Mars by Gustov Holst. This would be any time in the film before a big event like a move, birth of a child or birthday party.
Just another day in Paradise by Phil Vasser would be the romantic music. I’m not into country, by my romainic other is.
Thunder Road andNo Surrender by Bruce Springsteen would be the begining and end titles.
Oh man I’m in line to see this, whos with me?

I’ve decided that my Romantic Scene would also involve Banjos.

Denis Leary - Asshole

I’d like to say the soundtrack to my life would be done by Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts, but I’m afraid it would actually be Loony Tunes music… sigh

  1. Romantic interlude – “Moonglow and Theme from Picnic” (the two were once combined into one recording)

1a) Sex Scene – almost any Antonio Carlos Jobim bossa nova or maybe even Mancini’s “Mr. Lucky” (heh, heh)

  2. Stirring oratory at the end of the film – The main theme from The Vikings

  3. Pensive moment while you ponder the deeper meaning of life while staring at the tide coming in – Londonderry Aire or Mancini’s “Two for the Road.”

  5. Action scene – Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”

Ooh, good scene.
