Soundtracks for life

For the last three days a major used book sale, hosted by The Friends of the Topeka Library, was held here in Topeka. It’s been an “event” for almost thirty years, and is always crowded. It’s also less than half a mile from where I live, but everyone drives because they always end up absolutely loaded down with books. In the crowded parking lot one will see cars cruising slowly, looking for a spot. Often you will see a car following just behind a shopper who is leaving, hoping to get their parking spot.

This year, as I saw a car stalking a shopper, the shark music from Jaws popped into my head. I don’t giggle, as a habit, but now I did as I saw the same phenomenom happening elsewhere, with shoppers/swimmers being followed by cars/sharks.

I got the idea, if you could pick soundtrack music for other life situations, what would those situations be, and what music would you choose? Really, in the movies there’s almost always music playing.

So what would it be?

My AP Chemistry teacher in high school had a sort of gruff-but-loving personality; she was infamous for yelling at students when they were performing some lab procedure incorrectly, and nearly everyone who went through the class got yelled at at some point. Once, she was stalking towards a student, and someone began humming the Emperor’s March theme from Star Wars. From then on, people kept doing that every time she walked for any length of time. Fun times.
