Sources for old "fashion and costumes" postcards and such?

One thing I love collecting is pictures of old ads, postcards, illustrations of fashions from the earlier part of the 20th century (prior to WWII). Like you’d see an ad for say, a cruise line that features a well-dressed women stepping aboard a ship in 1920s attire and such.

Any idea of sites that feature pictures like this? As well as old “advertisements” for things like shipping lines and alcohol?

(I’m thinking that Eve will probably have some idea at least what I’m talking about!)

While I think you see this kind of paper on ebay, you could probably visit a local used book dealer and buy a vintage magazine with multiple pics for what you are searching for, but might pay for merely one page on ebay. IMHO.

Check out flea markets and rummage sales for women’s magazines from the 20’s to the 40’s. Older Ladies’ Home Journal issues are especially good, and most of the time you can pick them up pretty cheap.

Damn! Poorly written, by me.

Visit a local used book dealer or two. You can probably buy vintage magazines with multiple pics for what you might pay for one pic on Ebay.

Is that better?

Dover Publications has an amazing list of compilation books of old paostcards, fashion mags, clip art, etc. Get on their mailing list!

Thanks, I’ll check them out!

There was a site I knew of years ago that had all these old ad posters and such and you could order posters of them (no, it wasn’t one of those “posters.com” type dealies) and damned if I can’t find it again!

I squeal like a leedle girl when my Dover catalog comes in the mail. I have ordered so many costume and architectural photo books from them . .
