I can’t make this stuff up. South Africa’s Sesame Street will introduce a new Muppet who is HIV-positive. The Muppet will most likely appear in other countries’ Sesame Streets as well. There will be no reference to sexual contact of the disease, and the character is to show that HIV sufferers are not different from other members of the community.
Seems like a wise move to me to introduce the character in an African country, as (unfortunately) more people suffer from HIV and AIDS in Africa than any other continent.
