South Carolina: Pedophile Island

We all know too well there is a kind of person who enjoys victimizing children.

He stage-manages the entire disgusting transaction and yet, somehow figures that it qualifies as a seduction. A person who does this to a child is a coward. Scumbag. Defective to the point of being incapable of existing in harmony with any society.

For the purposes of this discussion, let’s call him Miguel. Miguel is a Registered Sex Offender (RSO). If we were to set the ground rules for a particular state, say South Carolina, then make convicted pedophile Miguel’s probation/parole contingent on his taking residence there, aren’t we allowing him to make the choice whether he lives or dies?

Couple this with an innovation that any ISP could install on Miguel’s Internet account. It’s dubbed a “skin tone filtering system.” Apparently it’s automatic and it works pretty well. In fact, just last December it snagged a creep who was downloading kiddie porn from inside NASA.

Let’s take the fight to Miguel and the hordes of men and women just like him. In my view, the theft of innocence is a capital offense, but for now, exile among the good folk of South Carolina might be just the ticket.

I’m not sure what you’re proposing exactly in your OP, but concerning this innovation : wouldn’t this rather be a “porn detector” that happened to help catching a child porn dowloader ? The name “skin tone detecting system” seems to imply so. And I suspect it would also have detected Miguel uploading of his beach vacation’s pictures because they included “skin tones”.

This would be a great new license plate slogan.

Or a new reality show on Fox.

Next on Fox, will Miguel be voted off Pedophile Island???

Dear OP,

Did you say “Stage Manages”? Poor word choice…or was it?

What the fuck else would you call it? I doubt the average 12-year-old would’ve come up with “tossing a grown man’s salad” on his own.

I don’t think so, clairobscur, but details on this technology are pretty raw. I believe it has to do with the range (or lack of range) of coloration specific to the pubic region, as depicted in the images downloaded to one’s computer.

Alternate title, as suggested by a caller to the show Loveline a few months ago: “Pedoph Isle.”

[sub]Really, I didn’t make that one up.[/sub]

So… downloading porn where the women/men are shaved would trigger this?

Ho boy, I’m making a vast understatement here. You know how there’s software to analyze or recognize a face, and software that interprets body proportions? Well, think of this as an adjunct that looks for whether the subject’s hirsute, got stubble, or never any grass on the field, using gradations of color.

-I thought they said it was just a name!
-It is. Pedophile Island is actually a pennisula.

Wait… so in order to test this thing out to see if it works, wouldn’t they have had to use kiddy porn? That thought kind of creeps me out.

Dude there was a convicted pedophile on the board who was banned. His name was “Stage Manager”. Thats all.

Obviously, he is perfectly aware of that. Stage Manager’s real name was Mikey.

Though, strictly speaking, he wasn’t a pedophile; he was a RSO convicted of having sexual relations with a minor, something like 15 or 16 years old, IIRC. Pedophilia strictly involves prepubescent children.

I’ve read the OP (twice) and the links (thrice) and the responses (etc) but I still don’t get what or who is being pitted here.

Can someone give me a heads-up?

Doesn’t appear to be the classic one-on-one pitting – the OP seems to be saying that SC should bring in the DP for repeat child sex offenders, and then said offenders be given the option of prison or probation/parole in SC. A general “I hate pedophiles” thread.

It can’t be a true pedophile-bashing thread until we call for government-condoned prison rape.

Damn straight. Somebody really dropped the shank-severed ball on this one.

If what ** El Cid Viscoso ** is correct, they don’t need child porn to test it. Plain nude pictures of children would suffice.

Keep in mind that it also doesn’t need to be particularly accurate to be useful. You’d want a low false-negative rate, but false-positives wouldn’t matter very much - somebody’s got to monitor it, and if it alerts on stuff that’s not child porn the person responsible for it would simply toss out those alerts.
