Found this courtesy of the Dark Roasted Blend website. These two new building going up in South Korea remind me of a couple of trees with big knotty burls in them.
Kind of reminds me of the WTC with smoke pouring out of it on 9/11. Who the hell thought that was a good idea?
While I trust the architects know what they’re doing and that the building is structurally-sound I’d still be nervous as shit in one of the units that is suspended over nothing.
First thing I thought of was the WTC towers blowing up.
Really? That’s what they remind you of?
In all honesty, I’d love to live in one of those that’s suspended, especially if I can get some floorlights (instead of skylights). I love heights, though, and I can imagine that I’d get few houseguests.
That bit in the middle was clearly inspired by Habitat '67.
Inch thick polycarbonate ought to do the trick. It would make a great dance floor for a Disco.
Honestly, yes. I see the resemblance to the WTC getting hit, but that was my second thought. My first thought was a tree with a big ugly burl in the middle of the trunk.
Somebody has played way too much Minecraft.
Maybe. I mean, yes, that’s plenty strong enough, if the span isn’t more than ten feet or so. I can’t think of anything worse than feeling it bow outwards, though. However, just think how often you’d have to clean it!
You rang?
Er, I mean, yes, yes I agree.
Even without the pixelated cloud, those buildings are uuuuuugly. The irregularity of the structure is just off-putting.
I was ready to click on the link and come back to say they weren’t as ugly as advertised, but good god, they are ugly.
I’m pretty sure that’s malignant.
I can’t click on the pictures, but is this the story from 2 years ago? The skyscrapers that are attached by what is supposed to look like a cloud, but really looks like the world trade center after being hit by the planes?
Am I the only one who thinks it’s beautiful? Two 8-bit peaks with Tetris windows, so high that that they’re among the clouds.
From the perspective of the rest of the world, Americans are obsessed with 9/11. It’s just one more unfortunate thing out of thousands that happened in the past. The design of the buildings would not have the same connotations to Koreans as it would to Americans.
