South Park 11.20.02 - possible spoilers!

That was one of the funnier episodes I’ve seen in a while, save for last week’s LOTR episode…

One question to those who saw it last night: What do you think the inspiration was for the Lemmiwinks sub-plot? My guess is Wind in the Willows, but I’m not sure. Can anyone help me out?

The first episode of this season was a riot. Last week was ok. This week’s was a unfunny trainwreck in which Trey and Matt try and shove their political beliefs down our throats. Plus it was basically the same crap as the Big Gay Al as boy scout leader episode.

At best a 2 out of 10.

I don’t know for certain, but my first impression of the music first used for the Lemmiwinks sub-plot was that it was eerily similar to the music in The Hobbit http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005MP59/qid=1037894579/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_4/104-7270149-3191931?v=glance&s=dvd and in Return of the King http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005MP5D/qid=1037894654/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/104-7270149-3191931 (and I stand by my statement that that DVD has the world’s most ungodly-awful cover art.) I can kinda see what you’re thinking along the lines of Wind in the Willows, but it’s more likely just your generic subgenre. Well, I can’t think of any other movies that involve animated gerbil-stuffing, but I think you get the idea.

The Hobbit
Return of the King

I though the Lemmiwinks thing was hilarious. I think SP is at its best when it does stuff like that.

OMG, Lemmiwinks was hilarious!!

Hmm… was there mention of any celebrities in this ep? If not, I think this may be the first time they never mentioned any celebrities.

My daughter confirmed for me that is was the song from “The Hobbit”, along with an animation style copied from it.

Sweet! Thanks Elvis

I guess a Richard Gere reference would have been too obvious.

I’m surprised so few knew that it was a Hobbit reference. That’s what made it so funny for me :smack:
