South Park 7 Nov. 12 - "Obama Wins!"

I’m making a thread for this one early. Just as they did in 2008, Matt and Trey are making an episode about the 2012 election on the next day. In this one, Cartman believes he can affect the outcome. This is also the season 16 finale.

Fun episode, very apropos for tonight, before the results begin rolling in.

Link to the full episode from 2008.

Following the announcement of the 2008 presidential election results, Barack Obama (Trey Parker) and John McCain (Matt Stone) address their supporters on nationwide TV as the South Park townspeople gather to watch. Randy and the other Obama supporters (including the Marshes and Broflovskis, except for Ike, who supported McCain) celebrate drunkenly in the streets, while McCain supporters (including the Stotches, Mr. Garrison and Mr. Mackey) sit despondently inside, fearing that the new, inexperienced president would lead to the end of civilization. Ike attempts suicide by jumping out a first-story window; he survives but appears to be badly injured, so Stan and Kyle try to take him to the hospital.

Well, until that one airs and can be seen online, how about we discuss the previous one for a bit? I didn’t see a thread on it, and I searched. I though it was a great way to reframe the Lance Armstrong thing. Stan becomes an icon for never taking off his bracelet, although everyone else is. And it’s not Armstrong’s bracelet, though I won’t yet ruin whose it was. But that did work perfectly. It was thematically all over the place, but I think that made it better.

As for the 2008 episode, you left out the best part, and I’m sure it was on purpose. I’ll just say this–things in the White House aren’t entirely what they seem.

Yeah, last week’s episode was good, too. I especially liked the call-out to Dr. Suess.

OK - an anticipation thread, and then zero participation after the episode airs?

I’ll bump this up - hilarious episode. Best of the season, IMHO. Highlights: the General Tso’s Chicken joke, Kenny translating for Butters, and Mrs. Cartman’s threatened “punishment” for Eric’s messing up of the election.

I fell asleep watching it. I thought the General Tsao’s chicken jokes were lame and obvious.

Then again, I thought the episode about the zip-lines was one of the funniest ever, so what do I know?

And the entire Disney Star Wars plot along with the return of foul-mouthed Mickey!

Yup. Good episode. Matt and Trey hated the prequels. I wonder if they feel Disney will do justice to the Star Wars franchise. I loved Kenny translating for Butters. Why was Mitt Romney a duck? Wait. Never mind. OK, that was funny once I figured it out. That was one quackin’ duck.

Was that it? Haven’t we seen the duck before? Maybe from the “everything is shit” series, since the duck looked to be actually spitting shit?

One question. In the hospital where Butters is because of an allergy to almonds, Cartman visits him, and stuffs an M & M Almond into Butters’ mouth.

So, did Cartman kill Butters? Probably not, but why no follow up on this?

Duck President

hogarth:

Right, but they were leading up to the “one millionth joke” joke. And Kyle’s confused expression was priceless.

I don’t know. I was completely wrong about a blond James Bond who couldn’t drive a stick so I’m not big on predictions. I will say this. It was announced today that Disney has hired the writer of Toy Story III to write Star Wars VII, so there’s that.

I loved this episodes the best one yet. Why you ask that’s because the writers at southpark listened to me I have been contacting them for years telling them to make a general tsos chicken episode and they finally did. I am a big fan and I came up with the joke check it out on my website which is from 2010. Http://www.generaltsoschicken.net I even made a song about it on YouTube just search general tsos chicken song. I am ecstatic cuz comedy central really does listen to their fans. So check out my YouTube channel at @GeneralTsosWebsite

Gabriel also here’s my website I am a designer www.da-gem.com

Sorry, but I thought it didn’t live anywhere near up to the hype. The only real think I find funny is that the name of the episode was already listed as “Obama Wins” before the election, and yet the message of this show acts like they think Mitt Romney had a chance.

The one thing that made this a timely South Park episode was the inclusion of the “Flag head lady” during Obama’s victory speech.

Plus one can’t get enough of Butters, even with a swollen face. Thankfully Kenny could translate for him.

As I noted, I fell asleep before the end of the episode, so I only got the set-up… :smack:

I assume they recorded two final scenes to this episode, and played the one for the actual winner

See, to me, that seems really dumb. It would make more sense to just change who you thought would win, than to completely change the message of the episode.

Part of why I didn’t like this is that their politics are shining through. If what you say is correct, it still was going to be about how Mitt Romney was the rightful president. I liked last time, when they were able to put aside their politics.

Last time, they only made one version of the episode. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did the same this time.
