Is there something wrong with being a fan of Marlin Brando?
There’s a quote in Douglas Adams’ DIRK GENTLY’S HOLISTIC DETECTIVE AGENCY to the effect of “That was a fact so absurd you couldn’t make people believe it in Salt Lake City.”
Speaking of South Park, I just discovered there is a real Cas Bonita (and I hear it looks just like it did in the cartoon)! Along with Hunter S. Thompson’s ranch, this is on my list things I must see in Colorado. Any chance anyone here has been to the real Casa Bonita?
Casa Bonita was represented damn well in the episode. Cliff diving, Fake jails and the like. But, it is really designed much like an amusement park for kids. The food is reeeeeaaaallllllllly bad. It has by far the worst attempt at Mexican food in the history of time. They only serve really bland and crappy dishes and try to get people in and out fast, and onto the other stuff. (although as I recall they did have good if not very traditional sopapillas).
If you have kids under 12 or so they will love it, but for adults only, save your money.
You really brought me down there, wolfman. Oh well, I guess it would still be worth it to see cliff divers, get my picture in an old west jail, and see the haunted cave: “Oooh, scary.”
I’m with wolfman. Maybe I would’ve enjoyed Casa Bonita more had the first time I’d gone been when I was 8 and not 18. I’ve had better Mexican food at the United concourse in the Denver airport. The restaurant as a whole, though, is really kinda weird with the whole concept, but I’d say go ahead and go if you’re spending several days in or near Denver, even for adults only.
My ex boyfriend worked as a cliff diver at the Casa Bonita. He said he had absolutely no experience diving from cliffs or anything else, but they hired him anyway, figuring gravity would do most of the work.
So, is he your ex because of a bizaare gardening accident?
