Soviet National Anthem(s) on .mp3

I once searched Napster for the old Soviet National Anthem, and got numerous hits; apparently, thanks to the soundtrack for the movie “Hunt for Red October.”

But there’s another song which also rings bells as a possible Soviet anthem. As I can’t describe the melody, or give the title, all I can say is that it’s heard on another movie soundtrack: at the beginning of “Castaway”, in the Moscow scene.

Can anybody sort this out? What are the titles of the two songs in question; which was the Soviet Natl Anthem; and where can I get the Castaway song (it’s doesn’t appear to be on the soundtrack album)?

Do a search on the russian anthem as the Soviet Anthem was made into the russian national anthem after the soviet Union fell apart in 1989 , infact email me in my profile email and i’ll email it to you its only about 500KB as its a short non vocal one

Will play the official former Soviet, now Russian, national anthem for you (orchestral version).

As far as I can tell, the former Soviet, now Russian, national anthem doesn’t have a title other than “Russian National Anthem.”

Probably the “other song” is the “Internationale”, a sort of international Communist hymn. It’s just titled the “Internationale”.

Will play the “Internationale” for you (orchestral version).

I don’t remember what exactly was played in Castaway, but it must be one of the versions of the Anthem of Soviet Union (1978). I vaguelly recall from the movie that a regiment band on the street played it.

The Czarist national anthem is what’s played in more-or-less counterpoint to the Marsellaise in the 1812 Overture. It’s title seems to be “Russian Hymn” and can be found in the Methodist Hymnal with words by Tolstoy “God the Omnipotent” if anyone wants the score for it.
