Characters A and B are fighting on planet X.
On planet Y, character C says “I sense that A is in trouble.”
C takes a spacecraft to X in less time that I use to go to the 7-11 for a six pack.
What gives?
It’s not real? Hyperspace? The movie would suck if we had to watch them in their ship for 3 weeks?
Star Wars ships travel at the speed of plot.
Unlike Star Trek, there are no hyperspace “factors” in the Star Wars, so it would seem that you can travel as fast from point A to point B as fast as your navacomputer can plot a safe course. It isn’t instantaneous, and you apparently have to avoid objects in “real space” while in hyperspace.
It is possible that the Lava World is close by Coruscant (sic), unlike, for example, the outer rim world Tatooine & more centrally located Alderaan, which were just far enough apart that the Millennium Falcon wasn’t there when the Death Star zapped it.
It is specifically stated, as I recall, that “Lava World” is in the outer rim.
Love it, love it, really love it, someday will steal it!
I was led to believe that A’s suffering went on for quite a while. I would not be surprised to discover that George thought he had implied (through the device of the journey) that the suffering did last for days.
That would explain why A had such a bad attitude later on.
However B and D arrive equally quickly with D hiding in the pantry.
It’s called “poor writing.”
