Spamalot Hitting Broadway!

Woohoo! Spamalot is heading to Broadway, and we now have an official opening date!

Wait…February 14th?! Yikes…how much trouble would I be in if I tried to pass this off to my wife as a Valentine’s Day present.

Damn I’ve been away too long. I have to go to this. Any word on how long the original cast will stay on? I won’t be able to try to go until April.

No idea. I’m certainly hoping I make it there for the original cast as well, even if it were only for my own ironic reason of seeing Tim Curry. The last Broadway play I went to was The Rocky Horror Show.

Actually, it doesn’t open until March 17th

Loach- I wouldn’t worry too much. In general, cast members in a Broadway show don’t leave anywhere near that quickly.

In a related story the board of directors and CEO of Hormel Foods plan to be in the audience on opening night.

This is not a joke I saw it on CNN.

Doug Sills won’t be there

I was thinking more about the top three guys. I’m sure Mr Sills is very talented but I never heard of him.

Awww… I was hoping Neil Innes would be involved musically!

Still, I hope it’s fun. There hasn’t been a new hit on Broadway in ages… or so it seems.

I saw SPAMALOT today in Chicago. It is hysterically funny. Very true to the movie, but with lots of extra added goodies. Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce and Hank Azaria are all wonderful. They’ve added a female lead in the person of Sara Ramirez who plays the Lady of the Lake, the Witch. . . and The Cow. She practically steals the show out from under the guys!

While staying true to the movie, the show skewers most of the major beloved musicals from Broadway history. David Hyde Pierce’s solo “You Won’t Succeed on Broadway” stops the show!

And, oh yeah, Mike Nichols walked right past me. He couldn’t have been more than a food away! Be still my heart.

I’m predicting that this show will take Broadway by storm! Order tickets now!

Oh I cannot wait… How perfectly “me” that my first Broadway show will be a Monty Python show.

I honestly thought this would be a thread about a broadway version of the drive-in movie Troy McClure did with Ms Piggie. Damn.

Um. . . oops. That should be a FOOT away, not a FOOD away. Sorry!

I’ve got tickets for this in April (an Xmas/birthday present). So looking forward to it!

It’s my first actual Broadway show too.

I saw spamalot on the 2nd night it ran in Chicago and I’d say it’s the funniest musical I’ve ever seen. I’d also echo that Sara Ramirez steals the show. My guess is that spamalot will have quite a bit of staying power since the main attraction is the material and it isn’t a star-driven as The Producers.

So, if you can get tickets - don’t hesitate to go see it.

Oh yeah this is that one play I went to in Chicago earlier this month and met that Eric Idle guy.

It was great. One of the funniest things I have ever seen. Everyone’s performance was spot on and I think Hank Azaria is destined for eternal greatness after this.

My sister and I were walking down the stairs of the upstairs theatre and I saw Mr. Idle coming out of one the the downstairs theatre door. After getting through the crowed that swamped him and obtaining an autograph(which helped pay my rent) I told him a quick joke and actually got him to laugh. To think I made Eric Idle laugh.

Yeah, great show, great cast, and according to last weeks Chicago Trib, they trimmed some fat off the show so those of you in NY should get a treat.

Also I noticed when David Hyde Peirce was wearing the white tux and top hat(I forgot when this was, towards the end I believe) he strongly resembles Malcolm McDowell’s Alex from A Clockwork Orange.

Tim Curry is good enough reason for me to go. Bought myself tickets for my birthday.

My wonderful wife surprised me with tickets. I’ll be going in the first week of May. I hope the cast remains the same till then.

Really? Which show? We’ll be going on May 7th. Matinee, I think.

I’m making my first real trip to New York at the end of March, and my travelling companion got us tickets to this. Now y’all have me all excited.

Glad to hear it’s coming to Broadway, since I have had tickets for some months now! One of my best friends and I bought each other a ticket for our birthdays, which are both in May.
