He’s probably pulling Cy Young right about now. He was a very giving man, and his CATCH Charity does a lot of good. Love this quote: “There is nothing in this world that you will ever do that’s better than helping a child”. RIP Sparky.
When he took the Tiger’s job I was amazed he was as young as he was. So it has stuck in my mind since then. I do not remember him ever looking young. Even Sparky looked youngish but prematurely white haired in the 70s. Sparky did a fair amount of TV back then. He did the talk show circuit and I well recall an appearance on WKRP in Cincinnati.
Sparky even looked old in his 1960 rookie card:

I am a Milwaukee Brewer fan. I always wanted Sparky to somehow become the manager of the Brewers.
The quality of baseball in Heaven has greatly improved with Sparky’s arrival.
He will be missed greatly. Rest in peace Sparky.
In 1981, Anderson said that by 1984, the Tigers would be compared to the '76 Reds.
Of course, he also said that Chris Pittaro would be a star, so let’s not go TOO crazy here, shall we?
