Spartan School of Aeronautics

Where can I find statistics about Spartan School of Aeronautics?

I am planning on going there but I cant find any sites that have stats such as job placement and student to teacher ratio.

thanks for any help!

Um…

bad news - they don’t seem to want to talk about placement - they want you to email them.

not a good sign.

and this:

I don’t know that I’d call a plane which has been out of production for 60 years, and has about 4 craft remaining, “popular”.

Investigate a WHOLE lot before signing anything.

What discipline interests you?

Pilot - the majors require 15,000 hrs before they will consider you (IIRC).

Mechanic - I found an a&p (furloughed from United) behind the parts counter at an auto supply store.

Investigate - demand hard numbers on:

drop-out rate (why did they quit?)

placements

placements in desired jobs (you really don’t need an a&p to work the parts counter)

good luck

thanks for the advise!

The airline industry is pretty crappy right now. But it will probably get better by the time you graduate, unless something else happens.

If I may ask, why choose Spartan, and what emphasis are you interested in? I only ask because I recently met one of their students who was less than pleased with the maintenance program. You may find that a large state university would be cheaper and better.

Wow, that name stuck out like a sore thumb. I haven’t heard of Spartan since I lived in Tulsa 15 or more years ago! Even back then I remember them as the place that was “only for middle easterners”. Probably not true, but that’s the thing about stereotypes… there’s frequently a grain of truth.

Not to worry, from their web site, it looks like that only white american looking people go there now  .

spoken as a true bigot, I presume?

I guess it might seem that way, but it was really meant just the opposite. The first part of my post was a reference to how small-town and narrow minded the population of Tulsa is (and how I probably was when I lived there). The comment about the website was actually poking fun at how misleading their pictures are on the site… also confirming the first part of this post.

I guess all of that was too much for you to grasp… but if you want to try the stretch for me being a bigot… go ahead happyheathen.
