My roommate just got an offer from Earthlink in the mail. “Try Earthlink for 3 months and we’ll give you a free printer and scanner.”
I’ve been an Earthlink customer for about 4-5 months now. Can I write and tell them that I want a free printer and scanner? How do I go about this and what are my chances?

If you just talk to the first person you get when you call, your chances are probably slim to none. However, if you can get a managment-type person on the phone, your chances improve. Tell them that you’ve been thinking about switching, but this seems like a really good deal, yadda, yadda. It may work, it may not. You may also consider cancelling your service breifly, then rejoining for the bennies.
