These warnings, while good intentioned, are only working to the advantage of the terrorists. The terrorists want us terrified, and the Federal Authorities are doing just that.
What we need is someone we can trust, someone with leadership abilities, to tell us that we have a big problem here, but we can solve it. We have taken on bigger jobs and seen them through. More people will die, but that is the price we pay for living the way we do. (I mean the way you live, and you and you; mostly free and mostly unaware of the position in which many other people are forced to live.)
But, even if more people die, or more landmarks get blown up, we must never give up our liberty, our ability to be free in our hearts, minds, and actions. Go about your daily lives citizens, do not let the bastards get you down.

I think the general public learns how to deal with government paranoia by watching what happens when nothing happens (as if that sentence made sense).
We are all probably a little more aware of things around us anyways. It if wasn’t for color coded warnings, we would still have snipers, rapists in the malls, and gun toting school kids to keep us alert.

Now, at our own request, we will get every vague, nonspecific, ridiculously counterproductive, amorphous piece of information that stumbles across the transom.

Well, maybe not in the US. But the person they arrested for the Bali bombings claims he was aiming at Americans, even if mostly Australians were killed. And they recently prevented a poison gas attack in the UK.
They don’t have to operate in the US at the moment. You seem to be terrorizing yourselves quite well.

If it’s any consolation, our government issued a formal alert this morning. In response to a “credible” (but not specific) threat, we are all supposed to be more alert and report anything “suspicious”.
Do they have any idea how many times a day the average Sydney-sider sees something which could be generically described as “suspicious”?
