Spectre of Pithecanthropus has retired.

It’s been a pleasure to work with you and all of that.

Thanks for all of your time and help volunteering for the boards.

Jeez, how long were you a mod? Happy retirement

Well, not really. He’s still alive, I promise. Well, as alive as he was when he first became a mod.

wow. You must have been one hell of a mod. I don’t recognize your name. Are you all sure he **just **retired?

If all mods were as invisible as you, what a wonderful place this would be. Thank you and well done.

Also, after you parents told you that, Fido never came back afterwards to leave wet nose prints on the sliding glass door.

Actually perhaps less so. Now I have to re-learn to spell and phrase my posts within the five minute window.

It doesn’t take that long-any idoit can do it.

Carp.

A fantastic mod… you will be missed.

Thanks.

It would help if he spelled “Specter” correctly. And “Hippopotamus.”

His mod-powers are gone, get him!

And Hippo too?

Do you get to keep the fingers of the posters you banned?

Fingers? We keep the ears and tail.

There’s a few retired mods around, and after nearly 12 years I can’t always remember that a particular poster was an ex-mod. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there are complaint threads (ATMB recently, but formerly in the Pit) where one ex mod protests an action by another ex mod who was still a mod at the time.

Some ex-mods seem to disappear almost overnight while others continue posting fairly frequently. I have no intention of going away, but it’s practically inevitable that you spend less time here when you retire from being a moderator.

Oddly enough, your first warning was my last.

Whoa, duuuuuuuude!

[/SFFTARH]

It gives things a satisfying symmetry.

Whoa, dude (speaking of Spicoli)…

I go away for a week, and when I come back you’re (sorta) gone. It was a pleasure moderating with you!

Now behave yourself!

You never stood out and made me think “oh that Spectre of Pithecanthropus! Damned moderator!” which is a good thing. I don’t typically keep track of who is a moderator and who isn’t beyond a very visible subset, so the fact that you weren’t on my radar is a good sign that you did a good job. Welcome back to the world of casual posting.
